Week 8 of the Louisiana High School Baseball Season is complete.  Familiar faces continued to shine and newcomers also began to make a name for themselves.  Below, we highlight our Mizuno Baseball Player of the Week and Pitcher of the Week from week eight of the season (04/11/22-04/16/22).

We will follow up tomorrow with our 8th week edition of "Diamond Notes", where we take a look at some of the other top performances from around the state. Please note, that all of the below performances are submitted by high school coaches.  To submit your player(s) for next week's edition of Diamond Notes, please email Alex Armand ([email protected]) with the player's name, class, position, and any relevant statistics from the week.  We are fired up for what's in store in Week 9 and the rest of the season!

Player of the Week

-2024 Thomas Collins (Erath H.S.)

Erath collected two big district wins against Crowley last week, to move into first place in the district, with two games remaining.  Sophomore Thomas Collins was a big part of the Bobcats success last week, as he had a stellar week at the plate.  He finished the week with seven hits in eleven at-bats (.636 AVG) that included two doubles and four runs batted in.  Collins also did not record a strikeout in his eleven at-bats.  

 

Pitcher of the Week

-2024 Brody Campbell (East Beauregard H.S.)

East Beauregard faced off against one of the top teams in Class 1A last week in Gueydan, and the Trojans won both games by scores of 1-0 and 10-8.  Sophomore Brody Campbell was brilliant on the mound for the Trojans in both games.  In Game 1, he tossed his first career no-hitter, throwing all seven innings, while giving up zero hits and zero earned runs, while striking out six.  Campbell was also very efficient in this outing, as he needed only 70 pitches to toss the complete game no-hitter.  In Game 2, he threw another two innings of no-hit baseball with two strikeouts.
