The Louisiana Scout Blog provides insider information and scouting notes from our Scouting Staff during the high school baseball season. This running blog will feature information on underclass prospects, unsigned seniors, draft prospects, and anything else that is notable. We will provide a wide range of information, including player evaluations, velocities, pop times, home to first times, and more.
Continue to check back here, as the Louisiana Scouting Staff will add scouting reports, upon the completion of each week.
+ 2022 Ethan Frey (Rosepine HS)
The Super 60 participant has been known as a primary catcher, but in this look against Kinder, we had the opportunity to see Frey on the mound. A LSU signee; Frey ended up pitching 6 1/3 innings, while giving up only one earned run. He worked primarily off of his fastball, which topped out at 92 mph in the first inning and he ended up settling at 85-90 mph, to go along with an "11-5" shaped breaking ball at 72-75 mph. At the plate, he didn't get much to hit on the night and finished with four walks. Frey doesn't project as an arm, but if he can continue to fill up the zone, we should see the Eagles at the state tournament in May, to defend their LHSAA Class 2A State Title.
