On Monday, Sept. 7, more than 80 players from across the state of Louisiana in the 2016-2019 classes participated in the Prep Baseball Report Prospect ID Showcase at St. Thomas Aquinas HS in Hammond, LA.

Today, Prep Baseball Report Louisiana takes a look at the catchers that were in attendance.

Top Catching Prospects

1. Cain Castille, C, Lafayette HS(2016)
A 5-foot-11, 180-pound catcher with a strong, athletic frame. Quality athlete that posted a 7.14 60 yard dash. Quality defender with loose hands, quick footwork, clean exchange into a short arm action, over the top release with accuracy and carry on throws that produced a positional velocity of 70 mph and a pop time 2.04 seconds. Right-handed hitter that hits from a balanced setup, short stride, explosive lower half, and solid balance. Gap to gap type hitter with fluid rhythm, level bat path, and quality bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 88 mph.

2. Kevin Stretzinger, C, Brother Martin HS(2016)
A 5-foot-8, 205-pound catcher with a developed, strong frame. Solid defender with quick footwork, clean exchange, short arm action into high-3/4 release with accuracy and carry on throws that produced a positional velocity of 74 mph and a pop time of 2.05 seconds. Right-handed hitter that hits from balanced setup, smooth load, short stride, solid lower half and balance. Gap to gap type hitter with fluid rhythm, creates solid extension and bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 87 mph. Also posted a 7.53 60 yard dash.

3. Hayden Dillman, C, Mandeville HS(2018)
A 6-foot, 197-pound catcher with a physical advanced, strong frame. Solid defender with quality blocking skills, presents a good target, short arm action into high-3/4 release with accuracy on throws, positional velocity of 73 mph, and a pop time of 2.18 seconds. Right-handed hitter that hits from a balanced setup with no load, leg kick, quality lower half and solid balance. Line-drive type hitter with stiffness in the rhythm, in and out path, solid strength at contact that produced an exit velocity of 78 mph. Also posted a 7.62 60 yard dash.

Right-handed hitter that hits from a balanced setup with a short stride, solid lower half and quality balance. Line-drive hitter that showed fluid rhythm with a level path and bat speed that produced a 78 mph exit velocity. Also posted an 8.01 60 yard dash.

+Braden Doughty, C, Denham Springs HS(2017)
A 6-foot-1, 165-pound catcher with a lean, athletic frame. Solid overall athlete that posted a 7.12 60 yard dash. Quality defensive catcher with solid receiving skills, and quick footwork that produced a pop time of 2.09 seconds. Quality infielder that showed soft hands, fluid footwork, clean exchange with a long arm action into a high-3/4 release with accuracy on throws that produced a 72 mph positional velocity. Right-handed hitter that hits from a balanced setup with a smooth load, leg kick, solid lower half, and solid balance. Line-drive type hitter with fluid rhythm that creates extension and bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 72 mph.

A 5-foot-9, 170-pound catcher with an average, athletic frame. Solid defender with a clean exchange, short arm action into a high-3/4 release with accuracy on throws, a positional velocity of 63 mph and a pop time of 2.18 seconds. Right-handed hitter that hits from a balanced setup, short stride, solid lower half and solid balance.
