Grad Year: 2015
Commitment: Ole Miss
Scouting Report:
A 6-foot-4, 220-pound right-hander with a large, strong frame. Clean, fast arm into a high-3/4 release and a clean, in-line delivery. Fastball sits 89-91 mph touching 93 with quality angle and control. Breaking ball is still developing, but flashes a tight spinning slider with 10/4 shape, and depth. Currently ranked No. 17 in Louisiana’s 2015 class.
PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process?
Lowe: I was expecting it to be more hectic than it was, meaning, I expected more big schools to contact me.
PBR: Did location or distance from home play a factor in your decision?
Lowe: Yes, and 6 hours away was as far as I was willing to go.
PBR: Where did the college you chose first see you? How did your relationship develop with them?
Lowe: They saw me on a scouting video. They contacted me, sent some guys to come watch me pitch, the pitching coach, Coach Lafferty, came to watch me, then I went on the official visit, and I was hooked.
PBR: Who is the best player you have faced in your state, and why?
Lowe: Kale Breaux from Sulphur HS because he threw a no hitter against us.
PBR: At what point in your career did you realize you were an elite player and became serious about taking your game to the next level?
Lowe: Around 8th grade when I went to the Dixie World Series and my team finished 2nd place.
PBR: What were you looking for out of a college program to continue your baseball career at?
Lowe: A program that wanted to win, take care of me, and one that had a good reputation.
PBR: What is your best attribute as a baseball player and how does that transfer onto the field for your team?
Lowe: My ability to stay focused and forget the past. My size is also very intimidating.
PBR: What part of your game needs the biggest improvement, why, and what will you do to improve it?
Lowe: Pitch movement, because my breaking ball and change-up needs more break and life. I will visualize and practice repetitive movements to improve.
PBR: What advice would you give to young baseball players striving to get where you are?
Lowe: Do not let someone bring you down. Prove them wrong about what they thought before!
PBR: What do you do in the offseason to keep yourself in baseball shape and prepare for the upcoming season?
Lowe: Private pitching lessons with my pitching coach and extensive workouts with my personal trainer.
PBR: What do you like most about the college you committed to and what were the key factors in making your decision?
Lowe: The coaches- hands down. The entire program at Ole Miss is very impressive and well organized.
PBR: What other schools were on your short list before you made your final decision?
Lowe: Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana State, Texas Christian, LSU-Eunice CC.
