Stock Watch: 2018 Outfielders

Today, Prep Baseball Report Louisiana takes a look at three 2018 outfielders that have significantly increased their stock in the recent past. Throughout the spring and summer months, our scouting staff has been on the road scouting high school and legion games, as well as select ball tournaments and its own summer event schedule.

Let’s dive into the 2018 outfielders featured in this week’s Stock Watch:

Carson Balthazar OF / Central(BR), LA / 2018

Athletic 6-foot, 155-pound frame, strong build. Showed some athleticism running a 6.75 60-yard dash. Right-handed hitter hits from wide, balanced setup, works backwards in load with subtle leg lift, and high hands. Stiff rhythm with short stroke and slight uphill path; produced exit velocity of 84 mph. Outfielder with average hands, solid footwork, clean exchanges while fielding balls deep. Short arm action into high-3/4 release with some accuracy on throws, produced a positional velocity of 81 mph.

Evan Francioni OF / Archbishop Rummel, LA / 2018

Athletic 6-foot, 188-pound frame. Solid athlete that posted a 6.92 60-yard dash. Right-handed hitter that hits from tall, balanced, athletic setup, with simple shifting of weight and slight bar. Line drive type approach with decent rhythm and slight up hill path produced exit velocity of 85 mph. Outfielder with average hands, clean exchanges, and developing footwork. Short arm action into high-3/4 release with accuracy on throws that produced a positional velocity of 81 mph.

Grant Clark OF / Teurlings Catholic, LA / 2018

5-foot-7, 145-pound frame. Showed athleticism running a 6.68 60-yard dash. Right-handed hitter that hits from athletic setup, with loose rhythm. Short stroke that works inside the baseball with short, quick rhythm; produced exit velocity of 83 mph. Outfielder with soft hands, fluid footwork, clean exchanges while working through athletically. Short arm action into high-3/4 release with accuracy on throws, produced a positional velocity of 85 mph.
