2019 Infielders

Today, Prep Baseball Report Louisiana takes a look at three 2019 infielders that have significantly increased their stock in the recent past. Throughout the spring and summer months, our scouting staff has been on the road scouting high school and legion games, as well as select ball tournaments and its own summer event schedule.

Let’s dive into the 2019 infielders featured in this week’s Stock Watch:

Collier Cranford SS / 2B / Zachary, LA / 2019

Athletic 6-foot, 162-pound frame, wiry build, room to add strength and size. Outstanding defender with soft hands, fluid footwork, quick, clean exchanges showing instincts and feel for infield play. Short arm action into high-3/4 release with quality arm strength and carry on throws across the infield, posting positional velocity of 86 mph. Right-handed hitter that hits from balanced, athletic setup, smooth load, short stride and balance throughout the swing. Line-drive type approach with fluid rhythm, simple, direct path to the baseball with bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 82 mph. Showed quality athleticism, posting a 6.84 60-yard dash time.

 

 

Will Spears SS / 2B / St. Augustine, LA / 2019

Strong 5-foot-11, 175-pound frame with athletic build. Showed fluid athleticism posting a 6.83 60-yard dash time. Outstanding defender with soft hands, fluid footwork, fielding balls cleanly, and athletically. Short arm action into high-3/4 release with carry and accuracy on throws that produced a positional velocity of 88 mph. Right-handed hitter that hits from balanced, athletic setup, smooth load, short stride, solid lower half and balance. Gap-to-gap approach with some rhythm to swing, barrel tip into level to slightly uphill path with strength at contact and bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 88 mph.

 

 

Beau Neelis SS / RHP / St Paul's, LA / 2019

Average 5-foot-10, 165-pound lean frame. Right-handed hitter that hits from crouched, athletic setup, smooth load, short stride and balance. Gap-to-gap type hitter with fluid rhythm, level to uphill path and bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 85 mph. Solid defender with soft hands, decent footwork, and plays through balls well. Short arm action into high-3/4 release with stiffness and accuracy, producing a positional velocity of 79 mph. Also posted a 7.12 60-yard dash.
