Today, Prep Baseball Report Louisiana takes a look at three juniors that have significantly increased their stock in the recent past. Throughout the spring and summer months, our scouting staff has been on the road scouting high school and legion games, as well as select ball tournaments and its own summer event schedule.

Let’s dive into the juniors featured in this week’s Stock Watch:

Ron Franklin OF / SS / Archbishop Rummel, LA / 2019

Highly projectable 6-foot-1, 170-pound frame, athletic build, long limbs, fast-twitch actions, and room to add strength. Fluid, athletic runner that posted a 6.75 60-yard dash. Fluid defender with soft hands, athletic, quick footwork, and clean, quick transfers. Medium arm stroke into high-3/4 release with quality arm strength, carry and accuracy on throws that produced a positional velocity of 83 mph from infield and 82 mph from OF. Right-handed hitter that hits from wide, balanced setup, short stride, smooth load, and quality balance. Gap-to-gap approach with solid rhythm, level to slightly uphill bat path, and bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 84 mph.

Lane Hutchinson 3B / SS / Live Oak, LA / 2019

Athletic 6-foot-1, 170-pound frame, lean build. Solid defender with average hands, fluid footwork, clean exchanges and plays through balls well. Short arm action into high-3/4 release with accuracy on throws that produced a positional velocity of 82 mph. Right-handed hitter that hits from athletic setup, smooth load, and short stride. Line-drive, gap to gap type hitter with fluid rhythm, short, level path and bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 84 mph. Also posted a 7.36 60-yard dash.

 

 

Terry Tolliver, Jr OF / LHP / Parkview Baptist, LA / 2019

Athletic 5-foot-8, 180-pound frame. Displayed elite-level athleticism with fast-twitch actions running a 6.43 60-yard dash. Left-handed hitter that hits from athletic, open setup, with no load and short stride. Line drive/ gap-to-gap type approach with level path, early rhythm and some bat speed, produced exit velocity of 89 mph. Outfielder with average hands, fluid footwork, clean exchanges while fielding athletically. Long arm action into high-¾ release with some accuracy on throws and developing arm strength, recording a positional velocity of 76 mph.
