The Hotlist: 2015 Draft Superlatives

By Nathan Rode

The draft is less than three weeks away so we’re going to take a look some of the best tools in the Prep Baseball Report coverage area. Highlighted below are superlatives and the players that best represent those categories.

Best Athlete: Two-sport athletes are favorites to win this category every year, but they’re usually position players with quick-twitch actions, like OF Monte Harrison (Lee’s Summit West HS, MO) in 2014. Missouri has another prospect of that mold in OF Marquise Doherty (Winnetonka HS, MO), who is committed to Missouri for baseball and football, but it can be argued that the top athlete in PBR’s coverage area is RHP Bryan Hoeing (Batesville HS, IN). Hoeing is also a standout basketball player and would likely have a chance to play at the Division I level if not for baseball. He tore his ACL in December and his spring was in doubt, but he was back on the hill in four months and has shown flashes of his tremendous upside.
