Top Uncommitted 2021's (Louisiana All-State Games)
November 18, 2020
Our staff was very impressed with the talent across the board at the Louisiana All-State Games. Today, we continue our post event coverage by taking a look at several 2021's that are still on the market. We look forward to following these players as we head into the 2021 high school season.
2021 OF/RHP William Perkins (Sterlington HS)
Strong, athletic frame with fast twitch movements; Perkins impressed our staff at the Louisiana All-State Games. The RHH hits from a slightly open, balanced, athletic stance with his hands held at shoulder height. Uses his top hand really well to get the barrel through the zone, that produced a 94 mph exit velocity, showing power to all fields. Posted a 6.78 in the 60 and showed real arm strength from the OF that resulted in a 92 mph positional velocity. Perkins looks to be a key piece this spring of what should be a strong Sterlington HS team.
2021 1B Mason Modica (Dunham HS)
Physical build, standing in at 6'0" 200 lbs. The 1B showed improvements in all areas of his game. Hitting from a slightly tall and quiet stance; Modica used his strong hands to produce a 96 mph exit velocity, which was a +6 mph jump from September of 2019 at our Upperclass Stats Day. Defensively, he showed improved footwork around the bag and accurate throws which resulted in a 78 mph positional velocity. Ran a 7.43 60 time, which was also an improvement from the last time we saw him.
2021 C/3B David Brumfield (Albany HS)
Athletic and lean frame; Brumfield showed why he is one of the top uncommitted catcher's in the state. Posted a 1.85-1.97 pop time. Average footwork with a quick release that resulted in a 78 mph positional velocity. The RHH stands slightly open and upright in the box. Used the whole field during his BP round, showing good bat to ball skills that produced an 84 mph exit velocity. Also, was 85 mph across the INF, showing the ability to play multiple positions.
2021 SS/2B Brenton Gant (Mandeville HS)
Still developing physically at 5'9" 155 lbs. Gant was another guy that showed he has continued to refine his game. Hits from an athletic, quiet set-up, riding out his back leg throughout his swing. Stays inside the ball well, which allows him to consistently square up balls to all fields. Posted a 90 mph exit velocity with an average exit speed of 87 mph. Quality defender with soft hands moving his feet through the ball to create carry on his throws that resulted in an 82 mph positional velocity.
2021 OF Noah Duplantis (Catholic BR HS)
Athletic and compact build. "Grinder" and "Baseball Rat" are the two words that come to mind when watching Duplantis play. He will be another tough out in the Catholic BR lineup come this spring. Slightly wide stance with weight pre-set in his back leg. Quiet hands and load allowed him to produce an 88 mph exit velocity; a +10 mph jump from last year's All-State Games. OF that gets good reads and jumps off the bat. Posted a 7.00 in the 60.
