Underclass Games: Stats Breakdown

The Prep Baseball Report’s Underclass Games for 2016,2017 and 2018 prospects took place this past Monday at Tulane University in New Orleans, LA. 25 prospects completed a pro-style workout, followed by live game action in front of the PBR Louisiana Scouting Staff and several college coaches in attendance.

Let’s take a look at the statistical breakdown from this June’s Underclass Games.

Top Fastball Velocity
West Feliciana’s 6-foot, 180-pound right-hander Trey Morgan sat 86-88 mph with a clean arm and occasional life.

Lafayette’s Miguel Reyes touched 88 mph from a physical 6-foot-2, 215-pound frame.

Central(BR)’s Ma’Khail Hilliard sat 84-86 mph with an easy, clean arm action from a projectable 6-foot, 145-pound frame.

Ouachita Parish’s Caleb Armstrong sat 86-88 mph out of a high-3/4 arm slot with a quick arm.

Pitchability left-hander Brock Batty sat 81-83 mph on Monday showing solid feel for secondary stuff out of a 6-foot-1, 180-pound frame.

Neville HS right-hander Will Ryan showed solid arm speed sitting 82-85 mph with a clean, easy arm action from an athletic 6-foot-2, 179-pound frame.

Top Positional Velocity
Of the 25 participants at the Underclass Games, 15 threw 80 mph or better during the defensive evaluation portion of the event. Let’s take a look at who stood out.

Central(BR)’s Ma’Khail Hilliard, threw an impressive 87 mph from the outfield with carry on throws.

Denham Springs’s Brock Batty threw 86 mph from the outfield.

Live Oak’s Preston Faulkner also was impressive during the defensive evals, throwing an effortless 86 mph from the outfield.

Top Exit Velocity
Trey Morgan and Miguel Reyes both showed outstanding bat speed recording 98 mph and 93 mph exit velocities, respectively.

Preston Faulkner of Live Oak showed a powerful swing recording a 91 mph exit velocity from a physical 6-foot, 194-pound frame.

Teurlings Catholic’s Nick Webre recorded an 89 mph exit velocity, while Pearl River’s Chase Fals logged an 88 mph exit velocity.

St. Amant OF Zane Zeppuhar, and West Monroe OF Slade Bolden, also showed lightning quick bats recording an 87 mph exit velocity.
