Unsigned Senior Showcase: Quick Hits

On Sunday, October 18, more than 25 players from across the state of Louisiana in the classes participated in the Prep Baseball Report Unsigned Senior Showcase at Louisiana Baseball and Softball Academy.

Over the past few days we have released the Stats Breakdown of the event, which can be viewed HERE.

As the PBR scouting staff is hard at work reviewing each player’s performance, writing scouting reports and uploading data into the vast player scouting database of PBR, we will look at a few quick hits on standout players from the event that made significant noise.

+ RHP Connor Maginnis, Jesuit HS(2016) exploded on the scene on Sunday with a fastball touching 90 mph. The 6-foot, 183-pound right-hander has an athletic, strong frame with a loose, clean arm action. Showed the ability to throw strikes, spin a solid breaking ball and showed an extremely quick arm.

+ C Cain Castille, Lafayette HS(2016) continues to impress with advanced catch and throw skills. At the Unsigned Senior Showcase he also displayed solid athleticism for a catcher posting a 4.1 home to 1st time. The right-handed hitter showed a solid bat path and outstanding bat speed that recorded an exit velocity of 88 mph.

+ C C.J Estave, Franklinton HS(2016) was extremely impressive as well, showing effortless catch and throw ability and quality hitting ability from a catcher. The right-handed hitter showed explosive actions and bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 88 mph.

+ INF Grant Schulz, Holy Cross HS(2016) continued his momentum this fall as the athletic, 6-foot Senior posted a 4.1 home to 1st time, showed solid actions defensively with a positional velocity of 82 mph and strength from a right-handed setup that produced an exit velocity of 89 mph.

+ RHP/INF Mike Romano, Mandeville HS(2016) was perhaps the biggest surprise of the Unsigned Senior Showcase showing a solid three-pitch mix that included a fastball up to 85 mph and tight spinning, sharp breaking ball with depth. He also posted a 4.18 home to 1st time and exit velocity of 90 mph.
