On Monday, January 18, more than 60 of the top prospects from across the state of Louisiana participated in the Prep Baseball Report Winter Prospect Showcase at the Big Easy Sportsplex in Harahan, LA.

Today, Prep Baseball Report Louisiana takes a look at the catchers that were in attendance.

Top Catchers

1.Tyler Thibodeaux, C, Breaux Bridge HS(2017)
A 6-foot, 165-pound catcher with a strong, athletic frame. Outstanding defender with average hands, quick footwork, quick exchange and solid blocking ability. Short arm action into high-3/4 release with accuracy on throws and a positional velocity of 75 mph and a pop time of 1.9. Right-handed hitter that hits from balanced setup, smooth load, leg kick, and quality balance. Line-drive, gap to gap type hitter with fluid rhythm, slightly uphill path and explosive bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 87 mph. Also posted a 4.7 home to 1st time.

2.Fritz Walker, C, Mandeville HS(2017)
A 6-foot, 201-pound catcher with a strong, athletic frame. Quality defender with average hands, fluid footwork, and a clean exchange. Long arm action into high-3/4 release with accuracy and carry on throws that produced a positional velocity of 72 mph and a pop time of 2.0. Right-handed hitter that hits from balanced setup, smooth load, leg kick, and explosive lower half.
