The fall season has come to an end for high school baseball prospects across the country, which means it's time for an update to our state rankings.  We spent the fall evaluating prospects at our events, and we also kept close tabs on their performances for their respective travel teams.  Today, we continue to update our state rankings and this week, we focus on the 2026 class.  There was definitely some movement within this update, as we welcome two newcomers to the Top 10, and we've also expanded our list to 120 prospects.  Below, we dive into the Top 10 players with a breakdown of each.  We'll be releasing additional content, throughout the week, on this post-fall state rankings update for the 2026 class.

TOP 10 (DEEP DIVE)

#1-2026 OF/RHP John David Alexander (Barbe HS)

6'3" 185 lbs. frame with projection left; Alexander had a fantastic freshman campaign for Barbe, both with the bat and on the mound, and will be a big part of the Bucs success in 2024.  A left-handed hitter, Alexander gets off aggressive hacks in the box and also shows a really good strike zone discipline.  On the mound, he's a polished right-hander with a clean delivery and heavy sink on a two-seam FB that's been up to 89 mph.  

#2-2026 LHP Bradyn Garner (West Monroe HS)

The LSU commit had a jam-up freshman year for West Monroe, as he finished last spring with a perfect 6-0 record and 1.96 ERA with 61 K's across 39 1/3 IP.  Garner's FB has reached the low-90's and shows really good riding life through the zone, to go along with a mid-upper 70's SL with sweep.  The Rebels will have one of the best starting rotation's in the state this coming spring with the likes of Garner and two former Future Gamers in Brennan Eager and Drew Ferguson.

#3-2026 RHP Logan Sorrel (Dunham HS)

Projectable 6'3" 190 lbs. frame with present physicality.  The Dunham HS product earned 1st team All-District honors, as a freshman last spring, and after seeing him at this fall's State Games, he looks primed to be even more productive in 2024.  Sorrel was dominant in his two inning State Games stint, giving up only 1 hit, while recording 4 K's.  He ran his FB up to 90 mph, sitting comfortably in the upper-80's, with spin rates up to 2639 RPM's.  His 77-81 mph SL tunneled well off his FB with sharp/late break, and he was able to throw it for strikes and swing & miss.  Heading into this spring, Sorrel has a ton of helium and we expect there to be plenty of eyes on him, once college recruiters can get back out on March 1.

#4-2026 RHP Hayes Holton (Loranger HS)

Holton made a splash at this fall's State Games and jumps into the Top 10 at #4 in this update.  Lean and wiry 6'3" 175 lbs. frame with more strength to come; the Loranger HS product works with a good tempo on the mound and is an athletic mover with a quick arm.  He sat 85-89 mph with his FB, topping out at 90 mph, with riding life through the zone and some cutting action at times.  Holton also showed feel for a mid-70's SL with short lateral break and a firmer low-80's CH with some sink.  He's another big-time arm in the state's 2026 class with a high ceiling that we will certainly be monitoring very closely moving forward. 

#5-2026 OF Braylen Montgomery (Walker HS)

There's true "five tool" potential with the long, lean, and athletic 6'3" 175 lbs. outfielder, and his best baseball likely lies ahead of him.  Montgomery has be in the Top 5 of our state rankings, since our initial release a year ago, and he remains in that position in this update.  At this fall's State Games event, he continued to show that he's trending in the right direction, as he recorded personal bests in the 60 at a 6.81 and in max exit velocity at 96.2 mph.  Our staff is looking forward to seeing how those tools play in game this spring because Montgomery has the chance to be a special player for the Wildcats.

#6-2026 INF/RHP Miller Sheets (Sterlington HS)

6'2" 175 lbs. frame with broad shoulders and a ton of room to continue to add strength; Sheets hit at a .333 clip during his freshman campaign and will be a key part of the Panthers success in 2024.  The Sterlington HS product was another State Games attendee this fall, who showed improvements in all facets of his game.  Sheets recorded personal bests in the 60 at 7.38, INF velocity at 88 mph, and max exit velocity at 94.9 mph.  He also offers upside on the mound, as he's seen his FB reach the upper-80's this fall, offering legitimate two-way upside at the next level.

#7-2026 INF Myles Ledoux (Barbe HS)

The 5'10" 160 lbs. infielder is one of many prospects who just finished up football season and is getting ready for the spring high school baseball season.  The Barbe HS product is competing for an infield spot for the defending State Champions, and his advanced bat-to-ball skills will likely be the carrying tool that gets him into the Bucs lineup, as evidenced by his 12-19 (.632), 6 2B and 1 3B, performance at this summer's PBR National Program Invitational.  

#8-2026 INF Dominic Pellegrin (Holy Cross HS)

The Tulane recruit showed at this fall's State Games that his work in the weight room is definitely paying off, as he's added noticeable strength to his 5'10" 150 lbs. frame.  A consummate in-game performer; Pellegrin had another impressive State Games performance, collecting multiple hits on the weekend, while playing defense at a high-level.  He's more than the sum of his parts and will lead the Tigers once again this coming spring, as he's done since his 8th grade year.

#9-2026 OF Kross Gillen (Opelousas Catholic HS)

6'2" 185 lbs. athletic frame with present strength.  The Opelousas Catholic HS product is the second newcomer into the Top 10 in this update, checking in at #9 overall.  Gillen was another guy who greatly benefited from our State Games event, especially with the bat.  Operating from a tall and balanced stance in the box with his hands held above shoulder height, Gillen drops the bat head straight to the ball with quick hands (24.1 mph) and flashed present pull-side pop that resulted in a max exit velocity of 94.6 mph.  He also showed a really good arm from the outfield, reaching 87 mph with backspin and carry.  The Vikings will be a must-see team this spring with Gillen being one of several promising young prospects. 

#10-2026 LHP Lucas Lawrence (Catholic BR HS)

The former Future Gamer has one of the highest ceilings in the state's 2026 class and checks in at #10 in this update.  His 6'4" 170 lbs. frame with long limbs screams projection.  The Catholic BR HS product works with a gradual build-up in his delivery to release the ball from a 3/4 slot with a long and loose arm action.  In our last look, his FB operated mostly in the low-80's, but it's likely not a matter of "if" his velocity will make a jump, but "when".  Lawrence also shows supreme extension on his heater, averaging 7.3' of extension, and aptitude for spin with his low-70's breaking ball.  He's a guy that we're definitely looking forward to seeing the jumps that he's made this coming spring.
