Yesterday, we released our state rankings update, for the 2025 class, now that the 2024 spring high school season has come to an end.  Throughout the spring, our staff traveled across the state, to see as many prospects and teams as possible, and we were able to see almost 100 total games.  Our state rankings for the 2025 class expanded to 275 players in total for this update, and there were plenty of movers and shakers throughout the list.  Today, we take a look at a few guys that made a move up in this rankings update.  

STATE RANKINGS RISERS (2025 CLASS)

+ 2025 OF Travis Adams (Sterlington HS)

Athletic 6'0" 185 lbs. frame with present physicality.  Adams made one of the bigger splashes on to the scene this spring, as he got off to a hot start for the Panthers and never really slowed down.  The Sterlington product finished the year hitting .381 with 8 HR, 13 2B, 2 3B, and 36 RBI.  A primary outfielder, Adams also showed defensive versatility on the diamond this spring having seen time at 2B and 3B as well.  He began the season uncommitted, but at about the half-way point he announced his verbal commitment to the University of Louisiana-Monroe, and in this update, he checks in at #18 in our updated state rankings.

+ 2025 RHP Slade Shove-Knox (Sulphur HS)

After an impressive showing at our State Games event last fall, Shove-Knox broke into our state rankings for the first time.  Now, with his spring season complete, he moves up thirty-eight spots in this update to #21 in the state.  The Sulphur product had a really nice spring for the Tors and he got better and better as the season went on with some of his best outings coming at the end of district play and in the playoffs.  Shove-Knox finished his junior campaign with a 5-3 record and 1.45 ERA with 59 K's across 48 IP.  We saw his FB touch 90 mph and sit in the 85-88 mph range, but it's his aptitude for spin that really stands out, as he showed the ability to land both a CB and SL with elite spin rates in the 2800-2900 RPM range.  College recruiters looking to add an arm in the 2025 class should definitely get out and get look at Shove-Knox this summer.  He's one of the many uncommitted prospects that we're looking forward to seeing at our Top Prospect Games on June 11th at UL-Lafayette.

+ 2025 RHP Thomas Allen (Benton HS)

The former Future Gamer enters the summer as one of the top uncommitted arms in the stater's 2025 class, after a successful junior campaign for Benton.  Allen finished the year with a 8-3 record and 1.35 ERA with 81 K's across 72 1/3 IP.  In our three separate looks at the 6'2" 185 lbs. right-hander, we saw his heater up to a personal best 92 mph, sitting in the 86-90 mph range.  Allen attacked hitters primarily with his heater, but did show feel for a firmer low-80's CH and a developing upper-70's SL.  If he can firm up the shape and consistency of his breaking ball, then that will only make him more attractive than he already is.  College recruiters can check out Allen up close and personal at our Top Prospect Games on June 11th at UL-Lafayette.

+ 2025 C Andrew Clapinski (Catholic BR HS)

5'11" 180 lbs. durable frame with a strong lower-half.  The Catholic BR product was in charge of handling the state's best pitching staff and did an excellent job as a receiver and blocker.  Clapinski, also known as "Clap", is a guy that is more than the sum of his parts, and is a prospect that you have to see multiple times in game to really appreciate.  Hitting in the middle of a talented Bears lineup, Clapinski had a monster junior campaign that ended with him hitting at a .396 clip with 6 HR, 14 2B, 1 3B, and 45 RBI.  Looking back at some of Catholic BR's big wins this past spring, it always seemed like Clapinski came through in the clutch with a big at-bat when the Bears needed it the most.  He moves up fourteen spots in this update to #27 overall in the state.

+ 2025 C Connor Walker (Sam Houston HS)

Long known for his defensive prowess, the former Future Gamer started to really improve his offense last summer, which he carried over into last fall and this spring for the Broncos.  Walker finished his junior campaign with a .384 AVG and .508 OBP to go along with 4 HR, 11 2B, 3 3B, and 32 RBI's, which is a considerable improvement from his sophomore season.  He's as good as they come in the state in regards to receiving, blocking, and throwing, and is a guy that pitchers love throwing too.  Walker moves up ten spots in this update to #28 overall in the state.
