Quick Hits: 2024 Louisiana Summer Championships (15U & 17U)
July 15, 2024
Our 2024 summer slate of showcase events ended back on July 2nd with our New Orleans Summer ID, but that was not our last opportunity to get a look at some of the state's top prospects, as we held our Louisiana Summer Championships Tournament for the 17U and 15U divisions, this past weekend in Southwest Louisiana. This was a monumental weekend for us at Prep Baseball Louisiana because it was our first-ever tournament in the state of Louisiana, and it won't be our last, as we'll host the 16U and 14U divisions this upcoming weekend from July 18th-21st, back here in Southwest Louisiana. Below, we take a look at some of the prospects that caught our eye this past weekend in the 17U and 15U divisions.
TWO 2027 ARMS SHINE IN HEAD-TO-HEAD BATTLE
+ 2027 RHP Isaac Boudreaux (Teurlings Catholic HS)
Long and projectable 6'4" 175 lbs. frame that is easy to dream on. Boudreaux got the start for the Acadiana Cajuns 15U group in what turned out to be a fantastic matchup on Saturday afternoon. Working exclusively from the stretch, Boudreaux used a loose and whippy arm to release the ball from a lower 3/4 slot and lower release height. His FB ranged 84-88 mph with heavy life through the zone and he commanded it best to the glove-side. His 72-74 mph SL is still developing, but he did show good feel for a 75-79 mph CH with late fade. Boudreaux ended up logging 4 1/3 IP and gave up only 1 H and 1 ER with 6 BB and 6 K's. Like most young arms, he'll need to throw more strikes, but there's no denying the present arm talent and future jumps that he'll make, as he continues to fill out his frame.

6’4” 175 lbs.
Frame really projects and arm works. Has been on point for the @AcadianaCajuns 15U group this afternoon with 4 K’s through 2 IP. Good N2K in the state’s ‘27 class. #BeSeen #LASummerChamps24

+ 2027 RHP Lincoln Guillory (Teurlings Catholic HS)
Guillory matched up against Boudreaux (above) on Saturday, and matched him pitch for pitch. Another Teurlings Catholic product, Guillory used a shorter arm action to release the ball from 3/4 slot and worked off the third base side of the rubber, striding slightly across his body to create some deception. His FB sat in the 83-88 mph range and he showed feel to land his 75-77 mph SL for strikes and swing & miss down in the zone. Guillory gave up 3 H and 1 ER across his 5 IP. with 2 BB and 6 K's, in a tough losing effort, but his upside and promise, much like Boudreaux's, remains high.

A look at another talented young arm for the Rebels this afternoon. Shorter AA and has shown feel to land his SL for strikes and swing & miss. #BeSeen #LASummerChamps24

2027 PROSPECTS TO CIRCLE
+ 2027 SS Maddox Domingue (Teurlings Catholic HS)
We had heard good things about Domingue heading into the weekend, and we came away impressed and excited to continue to follow his progression over the next three years. The first thing that stands out is his 6'1" 180 lbs. athletic frame with lean strength. At the plate, there's still some work to do, as his overall approach is still a bit raw, but he was still able to take some quality at-bats, which included a RBI single late in the Cajuns semifinal game. Domingue's defense, however, is what really shined on the weekend. In our two game look, he showed the ability to make every play and showed the ability to throw on the run and at different arm angles with accuracy. Guys that project to play shortstop in the future are hard to come by, but Domingue certainly looked like one of those types of athletes, and is a big reason why we'll continue to monitor him closely moving forward.
Continue to be impressed with 2027 SS Maddox Domingue (Teurlings Catholic HS). Has made plays all over the field, can throw on the run, and from different arm angles. Hit an opposite-field single earlier as well. #BeSeen #LASummerChamps24@PBRTournaments | @AlexArmandPBR pic.twitter.com/hl8fiTxlm2

+ 2027 OF Cooper Hawkins (St. Thomas More HS)
Physical and athletic 6'1" 180 lbs. frame. We liked our last look at Hawkins at our Team Louisiana Scout Day back in May, so we were excited to get an in-game look at him this past weekend. He definitely has a physical presence in the box and does not get cheated when he decides to swing the bat. On Saturday, we saw him take some great cuts in his first couple of at-bats, which led to him blistering a ball to the right centerfield gap in his last at-bat, as he got robbed of extra bases by a great catch by the right fielder. Hawkins makes pretty good swing decisions for a young hitter and looks the part of a future run producing, middle of the order type of bat.

Has taken good swings all day and gets on the barrel here, driving this one to the opposite field gap, but is robbed of extra bases by the RF. @AcadianaCajuns 15U takes down @team_louisiana Reynolds 15U by a score of… pic.twitter.com/3kmOAkJ0kq
+ 2027 OF Kaden Chavis (Teurlings Catholic HS)
Yes, the Rebels are littered with talented young prospects with Chavis being one of those guys who will make an impact in the future at Teurlings Catholic. He's not the biggest guy on the field, but he plays much bigger and makes his presence felt, hitting out of the leadoff spot for the Acadiana Cajuns 15U group. Chavis took quality at-bats all weekend with a simple and flat swing from the left-side with advanced bat-to-ball skills. He hits the ball the other way extremely well, and he's an excellent runner who can create havoc when he gets on base.

The @AcadianaCajuns 15U leadoff hitter has taken stellar at-bats all weekend. Has 2️⃣ hits in this evening’s championship game, including this opposite field line drive single. Cajuns lead 5-1 in the 7th. #BeSeen #LASummerChamps24… pic.twitter.com/mIJGa8Ansk
UNCOMMITTED 2025 PROSPECTS
+ 2025 SS Kelan Guidry (Parkview Baptist HS)
The Parkview Baptist product had a good spring for the Eagles and earned the everday shortstop job this past season. We saw the uncommitted senior on Saturday against a solid Impact team, and he had a really nice day. In his first at-bat, he laid down a beautiful drag bunt for a hit and showed off really good wheels turning in a 3.98 home-to-first time. He then came up in a later at-bat and hit arguably the hardest ball of the game on a line drive opposite-field single. Guidry is also a steady defender with smooth actions and a clean glove-to-hand transfer, and is a really good uncommitted infielder in the state's 2025 class to continue to follow.

The slick-fielding @PBR_Uncommitted MIF laid down a drag bunt for a hit in his 1st AB & turned in a 3.98 H-1st. Collects his 2nd hit here with this firm backside single. #BeSeen #LASummerChamps24@PBRTournaments | @AlexArmandPBR pic.twitter.com/kWAjDBFNF9
+ 2025 RHP Coby Mitchell (Dutchtown HS)
Wiry 6'0" 155 lbs. frame with a ton of room to continue to add strength. The Dutchtown product got the start on Thursday for Impact Nettles and earned the win against Wow Factor Gulf Coast 2024. He used a long and loose arm action to release the ball from a higher 3/4 slot and did a nice job of hiding the ball from opposing hitters. His FB sat 83-87 mph with some natural cut and spin rates up to 2401 RPM's. Mitchell also showed feel to land an "11-5" shaped breaking ball with spin rates in the 2327-2429 RPM range. He ended up going 2 IP and gave up 1 H and 1 ER on 1 BB with 2 K's.

Good look at a @PBR_Uncommitted senior today for @impactsportsla. Athletic mover. Commands FB well to glove-side with slight cutting action. Through 2 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 2 K’s. #BeSeen #LASummerChamps24

+ 2025 RHP/INF William Nikolaus (Dunham HS)
Nikolaus only logged 15 innings this past spring for the Tigers, but he should log more next spring as a senior. He got the start on Friday against Impact Nettles and turned in a solid four inning outing. A primary infielder, Nikolaus looks like a middle-infielder on the mound, as he's an athletic mover with a simple and compact arm stroke. His FB sat 83-87 mph and he showed the ability to really command the pitch to his glove-side and he paired it well with a short & tight "11-5" shaped breaking ball with spin rates up to 2382 RPM's. Nikolaus showed confidence in landing his curveball in any count for strikes as well.

The @PBR_Uncommitted senior turned in a quality start today for @USAPrimeBR in a no-decision effort. Flipped his CB in for strikes at will with glove-side FB command. Had a nice spring for @Dunham_Baseball at the plate as… pic.twitter.com/HpvI94LUgT
+ 2025 C Dylan Champagne (Dutchtown HS)
Champagne will be with us at the Sr. Future Games, so it was good to get a look at him before we head to Atlanta next week. We didn't see the Dutchtown product get a hit in our two game look, but he still took several quality at-bats, as he drew a couple of BB's, showing good strike-zone discipline and swing decisions. His defense looked superb, as he received and blocked the ball extremely well, and also threw out a runner on Saturday morning with an in-game pop time of 2.05. A left-handed hitting backstop with a 6'3" 195 lbs. frame; we're looking forward to seeing the uncommitted senior perform next week against the nation's top uncommitted 2025's.

Catches a base runner at 2nd here on an attempted H&R with a 2.05 in-game pop time. We’ll see the @PBR_Uncommitted left-handed hitter at the Sr. Future Games in less than ✌️ weeks. #BeSeen #LASummerChamps24@PBRTournaments pic.twitter.com/ggebE8GZhX
