2017 Future Games Workout Notes - Team New England (Connecticut and Massachusetts)

The Bats

Cristian Mercedes (2019) - A right-handed hitter, showed a line drive approach. The setup is open, hands are held at shoulder height, they’re quiet, loose and work freely through the zone.

Connor Goggin (2019) - A right-handed hitter, spread out approach, hands are set low. Drove the baseball well to both gaps.

Tyler Gray (2019) - A right-handed, balanced hitter. Hands are shoulder height with lift and loft to the swing. Serious power. Exit velocity off the tee reached 100 MPH.

Matt Venuto (2019) - A balanced left-handed hitter. Some pre-pitch movement in the swing with middle to opposite field approach.

Harrison Leonard (2019) - A strong, built, right-handed hitter. Showed natural power to all fields.

Jack Whorf (2019) - A left-handed bat, open to even, sprays the ball from gap to gap.

Jack Donofrio (2019) - Feet are even from the right-handed side. Hands set at the shoulders. Short to the baseball, good line drive approach.

Ben Kailer (2019) - Right-handed hitter. Open to even, controlled leg kick providing some juice to his profile. Hands set above the shoulder and the bat has some tilt, swing is level up and he finishes with one hand, driving the ball to the wall during batting practice.

Matt Shaw (2020) - Right-handed hitter, hands and swing work freely through the zone.

Jeff LaRosa (2019) - Left-handed hitter, stance is slightly open with the feet shoulder width apart. Hands have some pre-pitch movement. Level swing path across his chest, solid line drive approach from gap-to-gap.

The Defenders

Jeff Nicol (2019) - Showed a short quick arm from the chute, no wasted movement in the transfer. The arm has enough strength to play, pop time was 2.02-2.07.

Harrison Leonard (2019) - Showed above average arm across the diamond at 88 MPH.

David Bordieri Jr. (2019) - Middle infielder with plus actions to both sides. Arm works out of a natural ¾ slot.

Aaron Zabawski (2019) - A middle infielder with a longer athletic frame. The arm works out of a higher slot, throws well across the diamond with clean actions.

Bennett Teceno (2019) - A third baseman who showed an above average arm across the diamond. Hands and feet work well together. Prototypical third baseman.

Matt Shaw (2020) - A middle infielder with short, crisp, clean actions. No wasted movement.

Parker Haskin (2019) - A catcher whose pop times sat between 2.09-2.19.
