Aidan Vining LHP / The Winchendon School, MA / 2021

WOBURN, Ma. - Added velocity is in the works, but for the time being Aidan Vining has more to sell on his pitching ability.

“I can throw any pitch you want where you want it,” the 2021 left-handed pitcher noted. “My main strength when I pitch is accuracy.”

However, throwing the ball harder is needed if more attention from colleges is going to happen.

“I’ve been doing a lot of Driveline,” Vining related. “My main problem is velo, I don’t throw hard. But with Driveline I’ve made improvements with that. I know I’m throwing a lot harder.”

Strides in other areas of pitching have the 17-year-old beginning to get noticed.

“I’m a person who throws with more arm, but I’ve made a lot of improvements there,” Vining explained. “My mechanics are more drive and pull now instead of all arm. I’m more accurate and throwing harder.”

There is also a matter of additional size as well as a new high school and reclassification.

“Winchendon has made so many more opportunities through schooling and working out,” noted Vining, who has grown an inch and put on 30 pounds in the last year to now stand 6-0 and weigh 210 pounds. “With the gym and tutors, living there gives me the ability to get stronger and smarter every day.

“It was hard at first,” Vining added about attending the boarding school in Worcester County. “But after the first month I loved it there. I knew it was home, it just took awhile to get adjusted.”

Repeating junior year to become a 2021 is another step toward the dream of being a college player.
