New England Insider: Top Underclass Uncommitted Catching Prospects
With the Summer season coming to an end and the 2016-2017 high school sports season as well as fall ball getting underway, we would like to take a look at some of the top uncommitted prospects at each position. Over the past month we looked at the top 2017 prospects and as you can see by our 2017 Player Rankings there are numerous talented prospects available.
Today we are looking at the top uncommitted underclass Pitching Prospects in the New England Region. We will look to create a few top uncommitted lists each week, as you can see by our 2018 and 2019 Player Rankings, there are numerous talented prospects available.
Class of 2018
Name: Max Walker
Rank: 32nd in PBR New England Class of 2018
Scouting Report: Right-handed hitting catcher who opened eyes at the event. A guy everyone that should be on everyone’s radar. Threw 78 mph down to second with ease and carry to his throws. The path is simple, strong and accurate. Pope time of 1.99, transfer is clean and the feet work as he is athletic. The bat has a good path to it, currently a little long but with added physical strength it should clean right up. Tee exit velocity of 82 mph. Hits out of a wide base with a even handed start. The bottom half action is minimal and he stays under control throughout the swing. Tripled in the game, hammering a ball in the gap. Ran a 4.7 down the line on his dig to first base. Division 1 catching prospect for me.
College Outlook: Front line defender in college. The bat needs to continue to improve as he physically matures but the defensive skill set is advanced. Should step into a college program and catch with ease.
