Season Outlook
The defending State Champions, Appoquinimink Jaguars will be aiming to defend their title. The Jaguars are returning six starters who will be college baseball bound. Brett Willett (Virginia Commonwealth University), Joe Otto (Washington College) Chandler Fitzgerald  (Delaware State University), Kevin Banning (Goldey Beacom College) and Mikayle Holloway (Cabrini College). Brady Stamper a 2017 graduate is also committed to University of Delaware.

The Jaguars strength will be returning the entire pitching staff from last season. As well as several newcomers ready to contribute on the mound. The staff will be led by Emir Garrett, posting a 8-2 record last season with a 1.34 ERA. Followed by Ryan Steckline with a 5-1 record and 1.44 ERA. Willett will hold down the offense trying to improve on his .437 average with 28 runs scored. Whereas Otto will use his speed to put pressure on opposing defensives (nine doubles and 17 stolen bases). The team will be returning great experience from last year’s state championship squad, but lost some leadership from Matt Alexander and Julian Kurych graduating. This team may have a shot at a repeat if they stay focused. A great story to watch this year will be the play of Sophomore Shane Higgins as he is a leukemia survivor.
