As we prepare for the upcoming 2016 high school season, we will be taking a glimpse at programs from around the state.

Team: Geogetown Prep
Nickname: Hoyas
Class: Private
Conference: IAC
Head Coach: Chris Rodriguez
2015 Record: 19-9
2015 Conference Record: 7-3
2015 Post Season: IAC Champions

Players to Watch
1B/RHP Matt Mervis 2016 (Duke)
SS Brian Dempsey 2016 (Boston College)
3B/2B Zach Seal 2016 (Wake Forest)
C Evan Blum 2017
3B/2B John Dempsey 2018

Season Outlook
Georgetown Prep returns their infield from a year ago and hope to repeat as IAC champions in 2016. Leading the offensive attack are infielders Matt Mervis and Zach Seal. Mervis, the No.1 ranked player in the PBR MD 2016 class, will provide pop and be a threat in the middle of the lineup. Seal is another gap-to-gap type hitter with a sweet swing and will provide some pop as well at the plate. Brothers Brian and John Dempsey will both be additional weapons in the lineup and provide a strong defensive presence. C Evan Blum will once again be the backstop for the team and provide some pop from the left side as well in the middle. Keep an eye on young outfielders Jordan Myers, Ben Sedgwick, Brooks Bengston, Carter Beloff and Joe Jakobowski to provide depth and speed to the lineup. It will be hard to replace the power lost from Chandler Redmond who is now at Gardner-Webb.

On the mound, look for Mervis to see an increased role after the graduation of Andrew Ashur. Mervis will anchor the staff this year and is 87-90 on the mound with more in the tank. They will need to find a No.2 in the rotation as the season progresses and Harry Flannery looks to be the front runner for that spot. Look for Henry Furlong, Michael Depman, JP Walsh and Tripp Sullivan to also provide innings on the bump for the Hoyas.
