Season Outlook

The Huskies have a great mix of experience combined with young talent that bodes well for a team coming off a 2A State Semi Final run in 2015. This year Patterson Mill moves down to 1A looking to make another run in the state playoffs. Defense will once again be a foundation of the team with the infield of 2B Nick Cress, SS Kyle Goudy, 1B Jacob Michael, and 3B Steve Spencer. Look for Goudy to build off a nice 2015 season this year. A Key loss on the offensive end the Huskies will have to replace is C/RHP Billy Benson and his .466 BA. Look for juniors Cooper Mattheu and Eric Raley to compete for time behind the dish as the replacements.

The pitching staff will have to replace Benson as well as ace Jeff Noss (65.2 IP, 81K, 15BB, 1.60 ERA). It will be hard to replace the type of numbers that Noss put up last season for the Huskies, but look for junior arm Jordan Reid to be one of the key arms to anchor the staff.  Patterson Mill will have plenty of depth at the pitcher position, but will need a few to step into the rotation. Look for open competition between Senior Alek Vujanic, Juniors Jake Sheelsey, the aforementioned Reid, and Jace ValleShaw, and sophomores Austin Koehn, Thomas Kragh, Steve Spencer, and Carson Uebersax. Pitching will play a major role into the success of the 2016 season.
