Scouting Report

5.20.17 - Schimming ran a 7.64 second 60-yard dash. At the plate, he features a wide setup and small leg kick as he loads into his backside. Hands work freely and directly to the ball from an inside path. Barrel is short and level through the zone. He uses his legs some and should add more pop as he gets stronger. Exit velocity of 77mph. On the mound, he has a quiet and compact delivery with minimal effort. His arm action is clean and loose as he releases from a high ¾ slot. He gets down the mound but doesn't quite get over his front side. Fastball topped at 83mph with life. Breaking ball had 12/6 shape and could turn into a plus pitch at 64-65mph. Flashes potential with the changeup at 69-70mph.

2.19.17 - Lanky projectable frame with room to add one. Long free arm action with fast arm speed through release. Sound arm action reaching back and creating some torque while working downhill to a slgihtly closed finish. Fastball has slight run on the pitch up to 83 mph. Breaking ball has shorter action on the pitch with 11/5 shape. Change up has slower arm speed with fade to the pitch. Room to add more and interesting prospect with arm speed and his projection.

5.15.16  - Athletic frame with room to grow at 6-foot-0, 150lbs. Ran a 7.64 60-yard dash and home to 1st at 4.70. Hits from a square setup but closes off slightly on stride. Level bat path with extension through contact. Gets bottom half involved. Power will increase as he gets stronger. Exit velo of 73mph. Throws were accurate and consistent on turns and throws had carry on them. Solid fundamentals around the bag that will get better as he increases footwork. Throws across the diamond at 71 mph...Throws from a ¾ arm angle with a loose and long arm action. Smooth delivery. Lands slightly closed at times. Glove side can get low and outside body. Pitched 71-72 mph with fastball. Threw breaking ball 61-62 mph with 2/8 action with gradual break to it. Gets around pitch at times. Throws change up 62-64 mph with slight sink and fade.
