Scouting Report

Preseason All-State 2/18/18

Lanky projectable frame at 6-foot-1, 160-pounds. Easy delivery with some pace. average leg kick inot down to out lower half. glides downhill with average backside  intent through release. Longer sound arm action throwing from a three quarter slot. Creates quick arm speed while pitching with light effort. Fastball has slight run on the pitch up to 80 mph. Breaking ball shows potential and already an above average pitch with tight rotation 10/4 shape and fastball arm speed thrown with confidence. Change up shows fade to the pitch at 67 mph. Very interesting 2021 to keep an eye on.

7.26.17:  Byrd is 5-11 and has a lankier athletic frame, hits from the right side from a balanced athletic stance. Short leg kick stride, smooth load back, hips explode and has some balance during his swing. Works uphill through the ball, pull approach, exit velocity was 74. At third, gets behind the ball and plays through it, throws from a three-quarters arm slot with a short arm action, infield velocity was 70. On the mound, throws from a low three-quarters arm slot with a longer arm action that is whippy with easier effort. Shoulders uphill and closed, lands on line to slightly closed with a bit of fall off to finish. Fastball was 73-76, touching 77, with a bit of late run to it. Change-up was 65-68 with heavy sink. Slider was 60-63 with hard 10/4 break.
