The Commitment Corner spotlights those Maryland high school student-athletes who have made their decision on where to play their college baseball. This is a unique opportunity to get to know several of the states top talent and gain insight into their recruitment process and ultimately what made them choose the school they did. Today we speak with: Ethan Wentzlaff
COMMITMENT: UMBC
PBR MD: List any awards / accolades you received in high school.
- All-County MVP, All-State, All-District, Mid-Atlantic Elite All-Star Game, Team MVP, Distinguished Scholar, Honor Roll
PBR MD: Why did you choose UMBC?
- I chose UMBC because of the great relationship I have with the coaching staff as well as the huge opportunities that are there for me both athletically and academically.
PBR MD: What do you plan to major in at UMBC?
- I plan to major in a subject from the business/economics area of study.
PBR MD: What are some of your goals you would like to achieve at UMBC?
- Academically, I want to maintain straight A's as much as possible throughout my career. Athletically, I am striving to work my way into the lineup as a freshman and to earn a leadership role in the years following.
PBR MD: What are your plans this summer to get ready for school?
- Continue to progress with my work habits both in the weight room and on the field so that I go into the fall semester ready to go.
PBR MD: Are you playing summer baseball? If yes, who are you planning to play for?
- Damascus Legion
PBR MD: What other schools recruited you?
- William & Mary
PBR MD: What was your favorite part about the recruiting process?
- It teaches you a lot about how much other competition there is out there, which really opened my eyes as to how much more I had to do in order to get better and become a complete ball player. In turn, it brought out a much more determined version of myself.
