The Commitment Corner spotlights those Maryland high school student-athletes who have made their decision on where to play their college baseball. This is a unique opportunity to get to know several of the states top talent and gain insight into their recruitment process and ultimately what made them choose the school they did. Today we speak with: Jackson Merrill

PBR MD:  List any awards / accolades you received in high school.

• 2019 Maryland All-PBR Underclass Team, 2019 All Anne Arundel County First Team SS, 2019 Maryland Gazette 1st Team, 2020 MSABC Pre-Season All State, Honor Roll

PBR MD:  Why did you choose Army?

• West point is a great opportunity to receive a high quality education as well as a chance to serve my country. The baseball program is up and coming and the excellent coaching staff is committed to developing their players.

PBR MD:  What do you plan to major in at Army?

• Business Management

PBR MD:  What are some of your goals you would like to achieve at Army?

• Academically I want to obtain a Business Management degree and the leadership skills West Point is known for instilling in its cadets. I want to keep developing as a baseball player so that I can also possibly reach the next level.

PBR MD:  What other schools recruited you?

• James Madison, William and Mary, UMBC, Coastal Carolina, High Point.

PBR MD:  What was your favorite part about the recruiting process?

• The visits to different colleges and meeting new coaches.
