The Commitment Corner spotlights those Maryland high school student-athletes who have made their decision on where to play their college baseball. This is a unique opportunity to get to know several of the states top talent and gain insight into their recruitment process and ultimately what made them choose the school they did.  Today we speak with: Sammy Senders

PBR MD:  List any awards / accolades you received in high school.

• High Honors all 4 years, All-Interstate Athletic Conference 1st Team 3x

PBR MD:  Why did you choose Richmond?

• Education and Coaching Staff

PBR MD:  What do you plan to major in at Richmond?

• Business

PBR MD:  What are some of your goals you would like to achieve at Richmond?

• Initially to adapt to the big change that college presents, but then to roll up my sleeves both academically and on the field to get the most out of my 4 years. I feel if I do that every day good things will happen.

PBR MD:  What are your plans this summer to get ready for school?

• Continue to work hard in order to give myself the best chance at success at the next level.

PBR MD:  Are you playing summer baseball? If yes, who are you planning to play for?

• Yes, DC Grays in the Cal Ripken Wood Bat League

PBR MD:  What other schools recruited you?

• I had some conversations with other schools but I had my eye on Richmond very early in the process. Thankfully things fell into place and everything worked out.

PBR MD:  What was your favorite part about the recruiting process?

• I think getting used to playing well when the pressure was on and coaches were watching was what I am most proud of. It's definitely nerve racking but it's an important part of the process and personal development. I believe that's a good experience that can carry over to things off the field as well.
