Fall Review West Analysis: 2017, 2019, 2020 class

The Fall Review West was held on Saturday, October 22nd at Saint James School in Hagerstown, Maryland. 20 players from across the state and Virginia were in participation for the event playing in front of the PBR Maryland scouting staff on a windy day. Today we break down the event with player analysis, first with the class of 2017, 2019, and 2020. We will later have complete analysis of the 2018 class. 

Justin Cotter RHP Westminster 2017
Has a lean frame at 6-foot-1, 165-pounds. Throws from a high ¾ arm slot. Long arm action that shows some effort out of hand break with average arm speed. Smooth delivery, falls off to glove side on finish at times. Opportunity to use bottom half more in his delivery. Pitched 78-82mph with his fastball that showed limited movement. Breaking balls has 11/5 shape with above average spin with late break. Threw breaking ball 65-67mph. Threw changeup 67-69mph with average arm speed showing slight run on it.

Brady Drawbaugh OF Saint James 2019
Athletic frame at 6-foot-0, 160-pounds. Ran a 7.63 60-yard dash. Hits from a tall, square set up. Quiet load, uses a front heel lift and turn with limited stride. Quick bat with a level swing path and some lift. Good extension finishing through swing. Exit velocity of 81mph. Worked through the ball from the outfield. Has a quick, easy arm action throwing from a high ¾ arm slot. Throws had some carry on them at 77mph. Interesting 2019 to follow going forward.

Travis (TJ) Kalagher Jr. 3B Boonsoboro 2019
Compact frame at 5-foot-7, 150-pounds. Ran a 7.34 60-yard dash. Hits from a tall open stance with a low hand setup upon load. Uses a double toe tap in stride rhythm. Front arm can get extended at times creating a longer path to the ball. Good extension through contact with some lift. Exit velocity of 80mph.  Sounds hands and feet in the field. Short arm action throwing from a low ¾ arm slot. Throws across the diamond at 70mph.

Luke Payne RHP/INF Heritage Academy 2020
Solid frame at 5-foot-9, 145-pounds. Ran a 8.60 60-yard dash. Hits from a tall, square set up. Shows rhythm and balance in swing. Level bat path to contact. Cuts off top hand at times through finish. Exit velocity of 66mph. Sound feet and hands in the field. Showed good lateral movement. Compact arm action from a ¾ arm slot. Throws across the diamond at 59mph…Pitched at 64-66mph topping out at 68mph. Throws from an over the top arm slot with average effort. Delivery showed good rhythm, uses an over the head hand lift into pivot with slight counter rotation of the body in leg lift. Breaking ball has 11/5 shape with average rotation and downward action. Threw breaking ball at 57-60mph. Showed some feel with the changeup that had near fastball arm speed. Threw changeup at 61-62mph with some sink and run on it.

Eric Picucci 3B/OF Midlothian (VA) 2017
Strong, athletic frame at 6-foot-2, 187-pounds. Ran a 7.60 60-yard dash. Hits from a tall, athletic set up. Quiet load with a high leg lift into stride.  Level path to the ball and uphill through contact. Gets lower half involved. Exit velocity of 84mph.  Showed active feet and soft hands in the field. Works around the ball well.  Throws from a high ¾ arm slot with a quick, compact arm action. Throws across the diamond at 80mph. Showed clean exchange and transition in the outfield throwing from a high ¾ arm slot. Works well through the ball. Throws had some carry on them at 79mph.

Jackson Sindaco OF North Hagerstown 2019
Compact, athletic frame at 5-foot-9, 150-pounds. Ran a 7.44 60-yard dash. Hits from a tall, slightly open set up. Limited load with an up and down stride that shortens stance leading into start of swing.  Shows rhythm and balance in his swing. Short bath to the ball with an uphill path through contact.  Exit velocity of 69mph. Has a quick, compact arm action throwing from a high ¾ arm slot. Throws from the outfield at 66mph.
