Last month PBR Maryland released a poll for the fans to vote for the top moment of 2015. Here were the candidates.
+ Brunswick winning the 1A Championship
+ Southern winning the 2A Championship
+ Chopticon winning the 3A Championship
+ Gaithersburg winning the 4A Championship
+ Georgetown Prep winning IAC Championship
+ Archbishop Spalding winning MIAA “A” Championship
+ St. Mary’s winning MIAA “B” Championship
+ Ljay Newsome being the first Maryland HS player taken in 2015 MLB Amateur Draft
With over 40% of the votes, Archbishop Spalding winning the MIAA “A” championship takes the crown as the best moment of 2015 voted by you the fan. Gaithersburg’s 4A championship comes in at second with 25% of the votes, and St. Mary’s MIAA “B” title comes in third with 16% of the votes.
2015 was a special year for Spalding as they repeated as the MIAA “A” champions in 2015 and look for the three-peat in 2016. They will have to replace key starters in SS Kevin Heiss, LHP Jordan Carr, and OF Ezio Rebechi. They still have a strong core of senior-laden talent with LHP Tyler Blohm (Maryland commit), SS/2B David Harding (Princeton), C Carter Sears (JMU), and OF’s Billy Godrick (Fordham) and LaVale Hodges (USC Aiken).
