The Freshmen Free Showcase was held on Saturday, January 21 at Athletic Performance Inc in Gambrills, MD. The event was for Freshmen only and featured players from across the state. We began the evaluation process with our Stats Story and Early Thoughts.

Today we finish our video analysis from the event with the middle infielders.

Top Performers

Jake Gelof SS Cape Henlopen 2020
Athletic, projectable frame at 6-foot, 160-pounds. Ran a 4.22 home to first. Hits from a taller, slightly open set up with hands at shoulder level. Smooth load with leg kick to hitting position. Leg kick gets him out of balance at times. Shorter swing path with bat speed and some extension through contact. Slight uphill finish with extension. Good lower half. Exit velocity of 83 mph. Smooth, clean actions in the infield. No wasted movements to generate arm strength. Good feet. Shorter arm action. Infield velo of 82. Works through ball well in outfield. Loosens up arm action to allow for velo. Throws have good carry. Good footwork. Outfield velo of 84 and more in tank. Great foundations in the player and one to keep an eye on throughout his career.

Bobby Duffy SS/RHP North Harford 2020
Strong athletic frame at 5-foot-11, 190-pounds. Ran a 4.26 home to first. Hits from an open set up. Quick rock back load to hitting position. Sticks front foot at times on landing could lead to getting out of balance. Level swing path with extension through contact. Creates fast bat speed through the zone. Exit velo of 87 mph. Sound actions in the field with some arm strength. Like to see on balls of feet more. Infield velo of 75 mph. Very interesting 2020 prospect that will be one to keep an eye on.

Andrew Rickard SS/RHP Archbishop Curley 2020
Compact projectable frame at 5-foot-7, 150-pounds. Ran a 4.17 home to first. Hits from a wider, square setup, pre-loaded with weight back. Short movement to start swing with nice rhythm throughout. Direct swing path with bat speed and some extension through contact. Nice balance throughout and clean lower half. Gap-to-gap ability with exit velo of 79 mph. Smooth athletic actions in the field, with quick exchange and release. Infield velo of 69 mph.

Nathaniel Beal SS/RHP St. Paul's 2020
Projectable frame at 5-foot-10, 157-pounds.Hits from a slightly open set up. Short quick load to hitting position. Level swing path with uphill finish. Average balance throughout. Quick hands and average bat speed. Ran a 4.3 home to first. Exit velocity of 78 mph. Active feet in the field. Works thru ball well. Clean hands and actions. Quick arm action with an 80 mph infield velocity.

Robert Bratchie 2B Liberty 2020
Athletic projectable frame at 5-foot-8, 150-pounds. Ran a 4.56 home to first. Hits from a square set. Short load back to hitting position with arm bar. Level swing path with quick hands that work thru the zone. Shows some balance, could get more with better lower half involvement. Exit velocity of 76 mph. Active feet, clean hands in the field. Gets rid of ball quickly. Shorter arm action with an Infield velo of 66 mph. Solid foundation to build upon in the player.

Cy Harwood 2B Huntingtown 2020
Solid 5-foot-8, 133-pound frame. Ran a 4.23 home to first. Hits from a square, crouched set up. Rock back load with leg kick . Hands start lower then move into hitting position. Shorter, level swing path some some bat speed. Some extension. Exit velocity of 78 mph. Clean actions in the field. Hands were sounds. Exchange clean, could get body to follow throw more Infield velo of 70 mph. Solid foundation, one to keep an eye on.

Christopher Nalley SS St. Mary's 2020
Projectable frame at 5-foot-9, 135-pounds. Ran a 4.28 home to first. Hits from a square setup with high hands. Short, quick load to hitting position. Short swing path with uphill finish. Slap style hitter that sprays to all fields. Exit velocity of 73 mph. Athletics actions i the field. Clean hands, quick exchange, throws from a ¾ slot with an Infield velo of 72 mph.

Gabriel Piche RHP/SS Dulaney 2020
Lanky projectable frame at 5-foot-11, 140-pounds. Ran a 4.7 home to first. Hits from a tall, narrow, slightly open setup. Quick load with leg kick to hitting position. Shorter, level swing path. Quick hands, average balance. Exit velo of 69 mph. Sounds actions in the infield. Clean transfer and a longer arm action from a high three-quarter slot with an Infield velo of 64 mph.

Connor Ronan 2B Arundel 2020
Projectable frame at 5-foot-11, 130-pounds. Ran a 4.2 home to first. Hits from a wider set up. Rockback load with a short swing path. Average bat speed and some balance throughout. Could get some more lower half involvement in swing. Exit velo of 71 mph. Active feet in the field. Quick hands and exchange to release. Infield velo of 63 mph.
