Future Games Breakdown: Will Twomey

Throughout Wednesday, July 26-Saturday, July 30, 2023 Prep Baseball Report Future Games were held in Emerson, Georgia at our LakePoint Sports Complex. For this event the various PBR staffs from around the country selected the best uncommitted rising juniors and sophomores to form teams to represent their state or region in the event, bringing well over 450 of the best uncommitted players in the United States and Canada to one four field quad for 4 days.

For this event, players from Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, and DC were selected to form Team Mid-Atlantic. Players on Team Mid-Atlantic had a position player showcase workout on Wednesday and then played in three games, one per day, Thursday-Saturday, going 1-1-1 against Team Florida, Team Carolinas, and Team California. Scouts from all 30 MLB teams and well over 350 college coaches were in attendance.

 

 

 

Naill's Analysis

 

Will Twomey SS / 3B / Georgetown Prep, MD / 2025

Long, lean 6-foot-4, 195 pound frame with proportional strength and the ability to fill out. The Georgetown Prep product has plenty of versatility in the infield, but fits the mold of a corner infielder at the next level and possesses the actions to be a reliable option at the hot corner. It’s an accurate arm with the ability to manipulate arm slots on various defensive plays, and the arm strength continues to develop each time I see him. It’s a bat first, defense second makeup, as it’s easy to dream on the smoothness and occasional twitch that the hands work with at the dish. The strength is to the middle, consistently spraying line drives to both gaps with developing power to the alleys. Feel for the barrel and bat to ball skills are still developing, but the plate presence and approach allow for a higher contact rate. Still plenty of untapped power potential left, as I look for this bat to really explode in the near future. Coachable, great teammate and a relentless work ethic bodes well for the future as the body is still developing.
