Player Spotlight: 2020 RHP John Carter

2020 RHP John Carter is an interesting prospect coming out of Smithsburg HS in western Maryland. A raw and talented righty, Carter shows arm strength and potential on the mound that should fill in well as he fills out his 6-foot-3 frame. He is mainly a fastball and change up combination now as he has yet to add a breaking ball.

Scouting Report

6.21.17 - Projectable pitcher frame at 6-foot-4, 180-pounds. Quick compact delivery with average leg kick. Glides downhill with little backside drive and lower half involvement tell ing for more in the tank. Loose arm action throwing from a high three quarter slot. Quick arm speed with more in the tank. Fastball is straight and jumps up to 83 mph. Change up has dive to the pitch at 69. Slows down slightly on the pitch. Interesting pitching prospect that continues to develop well and could turn into a nice power arm in the 2020 class.

7.6.16 - Long lanky frame with room to grow at 6-foot-3, 175-pounds. Controlled build up delivery throwing from a high ¾ arm angle. Has longer loose arm action. 10.27.15 - Lanky frame at 6-foot-2, 170-pounds. Throws from a three-quarter arm angle. Has a sound arm action with some arm speed. Will increase lower half involvement as he matures. Nice foundation in mechanics at a young age. Pitches with easy effort. Lands in line to the plate and shoulder slightly uphill. Fastball has slight sink to the pitch at 75 mph.
