Season Snapshot

The defending 1A state champion have a key contingent of returners who should give the Warriors a strong chance to repeat as champions in 2019.

Leading the way for the Warriors is 2019 SS and returning Washington County player of the year Dalton Shank. Shank is back to patrol the shortstop position for his senior year and will be a key component n the order with his ability to hit for high average. Also back as key parts to the offense are Ryan Nolan, TJ Kalagher, Adam Mathias, Peyton Mason, and Josh Derocher. Kalagher has the ability to be a table setter yet again at the top of the order coming off a .379 batting average last season season, while Nolan looks to be placed in the middle of the order with his strength at the plate and occasional pop after hitting .427 last year. .

On the mound lies the biggest question for the Warriors. They have three nice pieces returning but this is the biggest loss for them from last season, losing the likes of Brock Smith and Colton Bare. Look for Mathias, Derocher, and Trenton Von Phillip to be the leaders on the pitching staff this spring and will see a bulk of the innings. Cameron Day looks to also potentially provide some innings as well.

The Warriors are a group deep with experience from last year's exciting state championship win over St. Michaels. With their key core back on offense and the development of the staff, don't be surprised if you see Boonsboro contending for another 1A title in 2019.
