With seemingly everyone's seasons starting on different dates this spring due to Covid-19, we have decided to create two separate rankings this year based on Public and Private schools. All Maryland Private schools will be considered in this year's weekly PBR Maryland Private Schools Top 10 rankings while only Public schools will be considered in our traditional PBR Maryland Public Schools Power 25. An update to these rankings will continue to be released every Monday throughout the season.

Week 2 Update: With two weeks now in the books, today we release our second update to our PBR Maryland Private Schools Top 10. With Georgetown Prep (IAC), Bishop McNamara (WCAC) Good Counsel (WCAC), and DeMatha Catholic (WCAC) having yet to begin their seasons, we hold their spots as is from our initial Preseason Top 10 rankings. (It's an odd year, we get it; but that's why we have also broken it up between Private and Public, with many counties opting to begin their seasons essentially while some of the private schools conferences will be completing their playoffs).

It was a statement week for Archbishop Spalding with three quality "A" conference wins over previously ranked No. 9 Loyola-Blakefield, No. 10 Gilman, and No. 5 Archbishop Curley. They remain at No. 2 overall with Georgetown Prep having yet to begin their season but No. 1 out of all of the private schools currently in action. Archbishop Curley jumps to the slated second spot for teams currently in action jumping Calvert Hall by virtue of the Cardinals mid-week loss at home to previously unranked Mount St. Joseph. Although the Friars dropped a game this week as well, it came at the hands of Archbishop Spalding; a game in which they were in until the later innings. The Cardinals drop to No. 5 this week salvaging any more of a slide after beating Loyola-Blakefield pretty handily on Friday night. John Carroll remains No. 7 going 1-1 last week, losing a close one at Curley on Monday 3-2 before bouncing back with a win at McDonogh on Friday. Making their first appearance in our 2021 Maryland Private Schools Top 10 this week are Mount St. Joseph and St. Paul's at No. 9 and No. 10 respectively. Mount St. Joesph struggled on Monday falling to then No. 10 Gilman before picking up a big win at then No. 3 Calvert Hall Thursday and held on against St. Mary's on Friday to finish 2-1 on the week. The lone MIAA "B" conference school in the rankings this week is St. Paul's who are off to a hot 5-0 start and have a highly anticipated game on Wednesday as they host Loyola-Blakefield from the "A" conference.
