This week we take one final look at the roster from our Maryland Unsigned Senior Games at Harford Community College. Today we continue with a full analysis of the catchers from the event. 

 

MARYLAND UNSIGNED SENIOR GAMES CATCHERS (LISTED ALPHABETICALLY)

Tyler Blittersdorf C/OF John Carroll 2019
Solid body type and 5-foot-10, 195 pound frame. Hits from a balanced, athletic stance at the plate. Short, smooth, rock-back load and high leg kick for rhythm and timing. Explosive lower half and stays behind the ball well. Quick hands and fast bat speed. Compact, short, slightly uphill swing path with good extension past contact. Gap-to-gap type hitter with present pull-side power. Went 3-for-5 in game play with a double and two rocket triples. Quiet body behind the plate and sticks it well. Ran a 7.33 60 yard dash.

Jacob Conover C/3B Appoquinimink (DE) 2019
Solid, compact body type and 5-foot-10, 185 pound frame. Hits from a balanced, open stance. Rock back load, quick hands, and quick bat speed. Strong lower half involvement and an exit velo up to 88 mph on the day. Short, slightly uphill swing path. Gap-to-gap typer hitter with some power. Quiet body behind the plate receiving and sticks it well. Very quick footwork and a quick, clean exchange. Gains ground on throws to second base. Shorter arm action throwing from a high three-quarters slot at 74 mph. Put all five throws on the nag with pop times ranging 1.96 - 2.08. Ran a 7.43 60-yard dash.

Jacob Ference C/3B Linganore 2019
Solid, athletic body type and projectable 6-foot-2, 205 pound frame. Hits from a balanced, athletic, slightly open stance at the plate. Smooth back load creating nice separation. Strong lower half involvement, quick hands and gets good extension through contact. Short, slightly uphill swing path with an 85 mph exit velo. Gap-to-gap type hitter with some power. Quiet body receiving behind the plate and sticks it well. Showed very quick footwork and a quick, clean exchange. Throws with short arm action from a high three-quarters slot at 74 mph. Put five throws on the bag at second with pop times ranging 1.82 - 1.95. Also ran a 6.95 60-yard dash.

Logan Handwork C/3B North Point 2019
Athletic body type and 5-foot-11, 150 pound frame. Hits from a tall, balanced, slightly open stance with feet close together. Short back load with a leg kick for timing. Minimal extra movement. Generates some lower half involvement and bat speed through contact. Short, level swing path with an exit velo of 83 mph. Gap-to-gap line drive type hitter. Ran a 7.26 60 yard dash. Quiet body behind the plate and receives the ball well. Showed quick footwork and clean exchanges. Gains ground to second base on throws and squares shoulders. Short arm action throwing from a high three-quarter slot at 75 mph. Pop times ranged 2.00 - 2.22 with accuracy.

Graham King C/OF Urbana 2019
Athletic body type and 5-foot-9, 165 pound frame. Hits from a balanced, slightly crouched, and slightly open stance with a wide base. Attacks the ball with intent. Slower, smooth back load and explosive lower half involvement with nice extension through contact. Quick hands and fast bat speed with an exit velo of 84 mph. Short, level swing path. Gap-to-gap line drives type hitter with some pop. Quiet body receiving behind the plate and sticks it well. Showed very quick footwork and a clean exchange. Throws with short arm action from a high three-quarter slot at 76 mph. Ball showed some carry and pop times ranged 1.94 - 2.08. Ran a 7.39 60-yard dash.

Cael Orem C Perryville 2019
Solid body type and 6-foot-2, 190 pound frame. Hits from a balanced, athletic, slightly open stance at the plate. Short, quick back load and small stride. Showed good balance throughout swing with some lower half involvement. Longer slightly uphill swing path with and exit velo of 77 mph. Gap-to-gap line drive type hitter. Sways body receiving behind the plate and sticks it well. Quick footwork and gains ground on throws to second base. Throws with short arm action from a high three-quarter slot at 66 mph. Put five throws on the bag with clean exchanges and pop times ranging 2.15 - 2.40.
