This week we are diving deeper into this year's Maryland Unsigned Senior Games breaking down by position the statistical leaders and top performers. Today we begin with the outfielders.

TOP UNSIGNED SENIOR GAMES OUTFIELDERS

 

Luca Giallongo OF / St. John's College, MD / 2019

Giallongo has an athletic, compact body type and 5-foot-8, 165 pound frame. He’s an extremely athletic player that hits from a balanced, square stance at the plate. Smooth back load, quick hands and fast bat speed. Gets some lower half involvement but would like to see more. Exit velo was 74 mph. Stays behind the ball well with a short, slightly uphill swing path. Line drive, gap-to-gap type hitter with blazing speed on the bases. Ran an event best 6.63 at the Maryland Unsigned Senior Games and went 2-for-3 at the plate with two singles. Athletic and plays through the ball in the outfield with fluid footwork and a clean exchange. Throws with shorter arm action from a high three-quarter slot at 84 mph. 


Noah Cerrud-Osmer OF / 1B / Walter Johnson, MD / 2019

Big, solid body type and 6-foot-2, 220 pound frame. Cerrud-Osmer hits from a balanced, athletic, slightly open, wide base at the plate with minimal movement. Small pick it up - put it down front foot stride and slight back load. Does a nice job with lower half and remains balanced throughout swing. Stays behind the ball well and showed quick hands and fast bat speed. Exit velo was up to 95 mph. Shorter, level swing path with ability to put balls in gaps with ease. Showed some present strength at the plate during BP as well. Plays through the ball in the outfield with fluid footwork and a quick, clean exchange. Throws with long arm action from a high three-quarter slot at 83 mph. Also ran a 7.25 60-yard dash.


Garrett Mcilhenney OF / Calvert Hall, MD / 2019

Compact, athletic body type and 5-foot-6, 155 pound frame. Hits from a balanced, athletic, square stance at the plate. Smooth back load and glides into front side attacking the baseball with intent. Explosive lower half, very quick hands, and fast bat speed. Short, compact stroke with a slightly uphill swing path. Exit velo was 84 mph. Stays on the ball well and showed nice extension through contact. Went 1-for-1 at the plate with two walks during the game. Super athletic and plays through the ball in the outfield with fluid footwork and a quick, clean exchange. Can really go get it in the outfield and ran a quick 6.81 60-yard dash.Throws with long arm action from a high three-quarter slot at 78 mph. 


Jerras Murray OF / OF / Howard, MD / 2019

Athletic body type and 5-foot-9, 160 pound frame. Hits from a balanced, athletic, square stance with a slightly wider base at the plate. Rock back load and small front foot stride. Hands pre-loaded. Gets some lower half involvement and nice extension through contact. Short, level swing path with extremely quick hands and fast bat speed. Exit velo was 75 mph. Line drive type hitter that uses all fields and showed that during both rounds of BP. Went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI in the game. Moves very well in the outfield, is athletic, and plays through the ball with fluid footwork and quick, clean exchanges. Throws with shorter arm action from a high three-quarter slot at 75 mph. Ran the second fastest 60-yard dash of the event with a 6.70. 


Derrick Booker OF / Archbishop Curley , MD / 2019

Athletic, solid body type and 5-foot-9, 155 pound frame. Hits from am athletic, open stance at the plate with feet shoulder width apart. Small leg kick load and a short, uphill swing path. Quick hands, and quick bat speed. Generates nice lower half involvement, stays behind the ball well and showed extension through contact. Swing showed fluid rhythm and a one-handed strong finish. Exit velo was 83 mph. Athletic and plays through the ball in the outfield with fluid footwork and a clean exchange. Throws with longer arm action from a high three-quarter slot at 76 mph. Can really track the ball down and cover ground with his 6.72 60-yard speed.
