The Montgomery County Trials was held at Kelley Park in Gaithersburg, MD. Today we breakdown the pitchers from the event. Stay tuned for further information on players as we give detailed evaluations from each player during the event. We will name Top Performers as well as include a Future Watch (2019, 2020) if applicable.

TOP PERFORMERs

Spencer Hacker RHP Bethesda-Chevy Chase 2017
Build up delivery, sound arm action, high ¾ arm slot, some arm speed. Could get more lower half involvement. Smooth delivery throughout. Fastball has slight run on the pitch at 80 mph. Breaking ball has big shape and 11/5 action at 66 mph. Change shows slight fade on the pitch at 71 mph.

Connor Manion RHP Damascus 2018
Compact frame at 5-foot-7, 140-pounds. Fluid, controlled delivery. Loose arm action throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. Creates average arm speed and some acceleration through release. Nice hip load and lower half involvement. Square athletic finish at end. Fastball has slight sink on pitch up to 77 mph. Breaking ball shows some depth with nice rotation and 11/5 shape. Changeup has later sink on the pitch. Shows good command of all three pitches.

Chandler Brown RHP Richard Montgomery 2019
Methodical delivery. Throws from a high three-quarter arm angle. Long loose arm action and average arm speed. Fastball has slight run on the pitch at 71 mph. Breaking ball has gradual break with 12/6 action on the pitch. Changeup has fade and dive to the pitch at 60 mph.

Sam Ewing LHP Sherwood 2019
Pitches from the stretch only. Short leg lift with hip load in lift. Short, sound arm action throwing from a high three-quarter arm slot. Fastball has slight run on the pitch at 71 mph. Breaking ball has shorter action with nice rotation and 1/7 action. Changeup has slight fade and sink to the pitch.

Chris Hauser RHP Good Counsel 2019
Smooth delivery with side step. Loose arm action throwing from a low 3/4 almost side arm slot. Pitches with easy effort and finishes slightly towards the first base side. Fastball has slight run to the pitch at 63 mph. Breaking ball has 12/6 shape at 53 mph. Changeup has slight sink to the pitch at 58 mph.

Xavier Marmol LHP Mt. Airy Christian 2018
Build up delivery throwing from a ¾ arm slot with average arm speed. Has a longer, sound arm action. Gets some lower half usage and lands slightly closed with a square finish. Pitches with regular effort. Fastball has arm side run to the pitch at 74 mph. Breaking ball showing 1/7 shape with gradual break on the pitch at 59 mph. Changeup has run on the pitch at 65 mph.

Zack Vargas RHP Gaithersburg 2018
Has a quick tempo windup with rhythm. Sound arm action throwing from a ¾ arm angle with some arm speed. Pitches with regular effort. Lands square to the plate in athletic position. Get some lower half involvement. Fastball is straight up to 77 mph. Breaking ball has 11/5 shape with gradual break at 64 mph.
