The Montgomery County Trials were held at Kelley Park on Tuesday, June 14th. 20 players made their way to perform in front of the PBR scouting staff.
2017 Gerald Buchanan (Magruder HS) was one of the many players that stuck out during the event, taking top marks in multiple categories over the course of the evening. Buchanan showed the top outfield velocity (87 mph), infield velocity (84 mph), and exit velocity (92 mph). Buchanan shows raw ability at the plate with a pull type swing and power potential at the plate hitting a few over the 350 sign in left.
2017 Spencer Hacker (Bethesda-Chevy Chase HS) also had an impressive workout with the best 60-yard dash of the day at 6.71. Hacker showed gap-to-gap ability at the plate with a short path. Hacker also showed off the best fastball of the day at 80 mph. Uncommitted 2016 Jose Leal proved to be an intriguing prospect still available as the Venezuelan infielder showed sound defensive ability with his 7.00 60-yard dash and a short swing.
2018 Connor Manion had a nice bullpen on the day, showing late action on all three of his pitches. The rising junior has a fluid delivery and looks to have more in the tank.
