Stephen Decatur senior Justin Meekins committed to Maryland in 2014.  The infielder took some time out to talk with PBR Maryland about his commitment to the Terps.

Why did you choose UMD?

--I loved the big campus lifestyle. Maryland has the best coaching staff in the country, and get a good education.

What other schools were you considering?

--William and Mary and Vanderbilt

Now that your commitment is over, what are your goals for your senior year?

--Hold my title as Bayside Conference Player of the Year and win a state championship.

What would you like to get accomplished before you step on campus at UMD?

--Getting my power numbers up.

What are you looking forward to the most about Maryland?

--Winning a national championship.

Who did you play for over the summer and what was your most memorable experience?

--Mid-Atlantic Red Sox and getting to play the best game in the world with great teammates pretty much every day.

Who has been the most influential person over your baseball career and why?

--My Dad because he's always been there with positive encouragement after a bad game and reminded me to stay humble after a good one.

Who is your favorite MLB player and why?

--Dustin Pedroia because he plays the game so hard and plays the game the right way. Also because he's a gritty player just like I am.

What are you going to bring to Maryland as a freshman?

--A tough kid that loves the game and will do whatever it takes to win for him and his teammates.

What is your goal by the end of your freshman year?  By the end of your college career?

--By the end of my freshman year I would like to say I have developed more as a player and as a man. By the end of my college career I would like to graduate, earn my degree, and have a national championship ring on my finger. Finally, continue my baseball career in the professional ranks.

Random question:  What is your favorite movie and favorite follow on twitter?

--My favorite movie is probably Pulp Fiction because it takes a little thought to understand what is going on. Twitter is MLB Jesus.
