2.21.15 - Alex Parker is a 6-foot-2 190-pound RHP/C.  He throws from an almost over-the-top arm angle with quick arm speed and a loose arm action. He stays tall in his delivery with smooth rhythm and pitches with regular effort. His fastball has hard sinking action on it with good command at 86 mph. His breaking ball has 11/5 shape with late break on the pitch with near fastball arm speed at 70-73 mph. His changeup has fade to it with near fastball arm speed and inconsistent but is down with the pitch.  Parker has nice projectability and will be a 2016 pitcher to follow.

What made Towson the right fit for you?
+
I have always wanted to go to a big state school with Division I sports. Towson University is in a good conference, so the level of play is very high. The coaching staff at Towson has been there for a long time, and they know what they are talking about. I trust them to lead us to success in the coming years. On my visit I felt very at home and I got the right feeling.

What was the recruiting process like for you?
+
It was a lot of fun. It was a little slow, but I was in contact with coaches a good amount of the time. It was stressful for sure.

What other schools did you consider?
+
UMBC, Elon, UMES, and Furman

What were key factors you were looking for in your college decision?
+
I wanted to play in a good conference, with a coaching staff that could help me develop. Towson is relatively close to my house which will be nice.

What are your goals now before you graduate?
+
I want to continue to get stronger in the weight room, I want to get better overall, and I want to make the playoffs and make a run at the championship for high school.

What are you going to bring to Towson as a freshman?
+
I will be able to bring the ability to listen and learn, and a strong work ethic.

Who is the best player you have played against?
+
Danny Blair

What summer program did you play for and what did you learn with them?
+
The Dirtbags. I learned a lot about the recruiting process, with both coaches playing at the Division 1 level. We had a coach play on the national championship university of South Carolina team, so the experience was there and the coaches were able to give us good tips on the recruiting process and becoming a man.

Do you have any advice for younger players beginning to/going through the recruiting process?
+
Enjoy every moment of it no matter how stressful it is. It may not seem fun but looking back it was the best experience of high school, going on visits with your family and traveling to showcases. It goes by very fast. Also don't rush it; let everything work itself out and it will be a lot easier.
