DeMatha HS senior Andy Rozylowicz committed to UMBC in 2014. Currently ranked No. 37 in the class of 2015, the LHP was kind enough to take time out for PBR Maryland and let us all get to know him better.

Why did you choose UMBC?
+
It seemed like a natural fit. First, UMBC had great word-of-mouth recommendation. As more of my summer teammates moved on from high school to college ball, it was surprising to see the number of college players that didn't enjoy their college experience. UMBC stood out because the friends and families that went to UMBC raved about the college baseball experience. Also, it seemed like most colleges were trying to transform players into something that they were not, and UMBC seemed like they recognized the strengths of my game.

What other schools were you considering?
+ West Virginia, High Point, and St. Joe's.

Now that your commitment is over, what are your goals for your senior year?
+
My best baseball experience was winning a WCAC championship as a sophomore. After playing two years of non-stop showcase baseball there is still nothing that compares to the intensity of a WCAC game and holding the trophy at the end of the season. My goal as a senior is to return to the top as a team.

What would you like to get accomplished before you step on campus at UMBC?
+
I want to get used to facing older players again.

What are you looking forward to the most about UMBC?
+
I am looking forward to leaving it all on the table in trying to help my team win. I also want to continue challenging myself to compete by facing better competition.

Who did you play for over the summer and what was your most memorable experience?
+
Playing for Carson Carroll and the DeMarini Stars was always an inspiring experience. Coach treated me as an "out machine" and just let me play to my strengths. East Cobb is the best of the best, and I'm proud that I threw eight perfect frames that week.

Who has been the most influential person over your baseball career and why?
+
My dad because he has put in the best chance to succeed and done anything possible for me to flourish as a baseball player.

Who is your favorite MLB player and why?
+
Jamie Moyer because we pitch with similar styles as lefties with good change ups without lighting up the radar gun

What are you going to bring to UMBA as a freshman?
+
I will sacrifice anything for the team to help us win.

What is your goal by the end of your freshman year?  By the end of your college career?
+
My goal for freshman year is to throw as much as possible. My goal for my college career is to win a conference championship and chase the dream with my teammates.

Random question:  What is your favorite movie and favorite follow on twitter?
+
My favorite movie is Bull Durham. My favorite follow on twitter is Kevin Hart.
