Severna Park

HEAD COACH: Eric Milton

CONFERENCE:  Anne Arundel County

logo2014 RECORD: 12-10

FINISH: 3rd

RETURNING STARTERS:

TOP PLAYERS
Ryan Yesner
Griffin Wild
Matt Thomas
Colby Meuller
Spencer Dietrich
Brendan Clark

TEAM STRENGTHS:
Young Nucleus. Coach Milton has done a great job developing cohesiveness to the program and developing a tradition in his three years at Severna Park. Even though how the season progresses will depend primarily on the performance of some older players, the team could take a major step forward with the underclassmen. Matt Glady, Spencer Dietrich, Stephen Boushell, Ryan Key, and Patrick Sullivan are all players to keep an eye on in that group of underclassmen.
Glady ended up last year as the top arm in the JV rotation and Severna Park hopes that he can make that transition into the varsity program as well.  The 2017 RHP has a deceptive delivery with a short and quick arm action. Boushell should solidify the middle of the order with his ability at the plate.

QUESTION MARK:
Defense.  SP has some holes that are needed to fill on the defensive side.  Brendan Clark, who was probably the team MVP in 2014, will hope to solidify the team defense while his gritty style of play rubs off on his teammates. Kai Jackson is a very good athlete that will shore up the outfield defense once he comes to the team after basketball season.

WILDCARD:
Seniors Ryan Yesner and Griffin Wild. The LHP Yesner has rededicated himself this season and gotten in better shape.  With a good physical frame and deception from the left side, Yesner could be a staple in the rotation pitching in the low-to-mid 80 mph range.  The unsigned senior looks poised to have a breakout season for the team. Wild, a Lynchburg College commit, is set up to have a big year after having a great off season with the program.

OVERALL:
The season should be an interesting season for Severna Park.  Look for the team to grow stronger as the season progresses.  With the young talent on board, 2015 could be a year that the program makes a leap forward in the Anne Arundel Conference.
