The Southern Maryland ID was held on Tuesday August 9 at Joe Cannon Stadium in Hanover, Maryland. PBR Maryland had the opportunity to see players perform as well as local colleges and scouts in the area.
Urbana HS 2017 OF Jack Stines put in one of the overall top performances of the event, having one of the top 60-yard dash (6.94) times along with the top outfield velocity (86) and exit velocity (86). Stines has shortened his swing since the last time we got to see him and it showed as the left-handed hitter did a nice job using all fields much easier and showing some pull side power potential.
2017 RHP Jake Pecilunas also impressed during the pitching portion. The uncommitted pitcher was up to 85 mph on the mound and showed great feel for a sharp, late breaking slider that should be a nice put-away pitch at 70 mph.
Young infielders 2019 Nick Cinquanto and 2019 Zach Crampton have also shown nice improvement since we had last saw them, beginning to grow into their frames. Other young players that stuck out for the first time infront of the PBR staff include Justin Carboni (2019, Walt Whitman), Clay Wargo (2020, St. Mary's), and Ryan Nolan (2019, Boonsboro).
