Scouting Report

6/20/17 - MD Top Prospect Games

Pelletreau is an interesting catching prospect who has some untapped potential to go along with an already built frame. At the plate, he starts narrow and open before coiling into his back hip with a slight leg kick. His momentum comes forward as he strides and his barrel is launched on level path through the zone. He gets some extension and was driving balls to the gaps. He already has some bat speed and should add more pop as he learns to stay in his legs more. Exit velocity of 88mph. Behind the plate, he is a quiet receiver and has a solid first step before unloading throws to the bases. His transfers are clean and he should be able to lower his 2.01 pop time. Moves well and showed ability to block the ball.

12.4.16:  Pelletreau is 6-3 with a lankier athletic frame, hits from the right side from an open stance. Strides on line, smooth load back with good rhythm. Explosive hips and good balance throughout swing. Short to the ball, level swing with extension through, line drive hitter with good approach, working gap to gap, exit velocity was 82. In the infield, clean footwork and average hands. Gains ground on a clean exchange, throws from a three-quarters arm slot with a short arm action, infield velocity was 73. Behind the plate, quick clean release, short arm action from a high three-quarters arm slot, catcher velocity was 73 and pop times were 2.02-2.21, showed some accuracy on his throws.

8.11.15 - Solid frame at 6-foot-2 200-pounds. Hits from a slightly open set up with short load and quick stride. Level path to the ball with some bat speed. Shows rhythm in swing and uses lower half well. Extension through contact and an exit velocity of 82 mph. Sound hands and exchange at first base. Could get more active with feet and play thru ball more to increase velocity.  Throws from a low ¾ arm angle with quick arm action at 65 mph.  Quiet behind the plate. Clean exchange and release. Throws had average carry on them at 71 mph.  Pop time got as low as 2.35. Ran a 8.22 60-yard dash.
