Now with the winter hopefully behind us and the Maryland high school season well underway across the state, what better time than now for an update to the Maryland player rankings. Today we move to the class of 2017 and expand to the top 140 players in the state. PBR Maryland continues to travel the land watching games and events in our never-ending attempt to identify talent across the Old Line state.

There is much movement in this update to the 2017 class. 50 new players have been added to the rankings that coincides with our first full implementation of the state of Delaware into the rankings.

Maryland boasts three top junior prospects across the country in SS Jeremy Arocho (Old Mill HS), OF/LHP Randy Bednar (Landon School), and RHP Kieran Garner (River Hill HS). Those three represent our No. 1, 2, and 3 in the rankings. The gap between these three appear to be getting closer after both Bednar and Garner had big winters to improve their stock. Bednar performed well at the MLK Pro Day as well as the Maryland Preseason ID, showing off his explosive bat and overall athleticism. Not to mention that he is quietly becoming more and more of a prospect on the mound after pitching in the upper 80’s and reportedly up to 91 mph this fall. Garner again impressed this year at the Maryland Preseason ID, getting up to 92 mph during his bullpen. Equally impressive is the fact that these three as well as No. 4 LHP Grant Burleson (Parkside HS) are all committed to the University of Maryland.

Big risers in the top 20 include Jack Schroeder (Mount Hebron HS) and Sean Fisher (Parkside HS). Here is a sneak peek at the top ten.
