Inside the Recruitment: 2015 OF Waymond Lemon

Waymond LemonWaymond Lemon, OF, 2015, U of D Jesuit

PBR: Why did you choose Schoolcraft College?

Lemon: I ultimately chose Schoolcraft college because I thought it was the best fit for me in terms of athletics as well as academics. It's also close to home and I liked the campus when I went on my visit.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Lemon: I was considering North Carolina A&T, Marygrove, and Henry Ford CC.

PBR: Where did the Coach Fay first see you?

Lemon: Coach Fay first saw me at Skillbuilders in Dearborn Heights during my sophomore year. At the time he was giving me pointers to help my swing. I had no idea he would become my coach in college.

PBR: What are your thoughts on playing for a 1st year program?

Lemon: I think playing for a first year program is a great opportunity because you're the first team ever and not too many people can say that. It also gives me a chance to play a lot of games right off the bat.

PBR: What team do you play for in the summer and what is your most memorable moment?

Lemon: Detroit Eagles (Senior Detroit RBI Team). My most memorable moment is hitting a go-ahead RBI double against the Bulls late in the game.

PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process?

Lemon: I was focused on looking for a school that could challenge me in the classroom as well as on the diamond so I can achieve some of my long term goals.

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher  that you have faced?

Lemon: I have faced a lot of good pitchers but probably Luke Shilling.
