Class of 2013 Spotlight: 1B/RHP Ben Mitchell from Westminster

Over the past two years, RHP/1B Ben Mitchell (right) from Westminster HS has seen a consistend upward climb in the Class of 2013 rankings, showing progress in each appearence at PBR Showcase events. His time in the 60 has dramaticlly improved, along with his hitting, pitching and fielding mechanics.

On the mound, the 6-foot-1, 200-pound right-hander uses a 3/4 delivery to generate arm-side run on his 77-80 mph, and should see a spike in velocity with more lower-half drive. Mitchell also threw a 67-68 mph breaking ball, as well as a 70-73 mph changeup.

At first base, the strong-bodied Mitchell is agile; he moves well (7.43 60) both ways and has both fluid footwork and a quick, accurate arm. At the plate, Mitchell uses a strong setup, quiet weight transfer and direct bat path to drive the ball to all fields with above-average power.

If Ben continues his consistent progress, he ispoised for another jump in ranking within the class. To view Ben's full bio, click here
