Prep Baseball Report-Missouri held the Class of 2017 Games at Saint Louis University on June 7.  The event featured nearly 50 players from across the Show-Me State in the 2017 class. 

 Profiles have been updated with times, velos, profile pictures and videos.  We will break down the event positon-by-position, taking a look at the pitching performances today.  Although some pitchers may have worked out in other positions, this is just a look at their performance on the mound .  Players are listed in alphabetical order.

Pitchers

Brogun Betta, RHP, Camdenton, 2017
Betta is a 6-foot 195-pound right-handed pitcher from Camdenton HS in central Missouri. Betta touched 75 mph with his fastball, working 70-75 mph, works from a three-quarters slot, adds sink to his fastball at the bottom of the zone, 55-63 mph breaking ball, 10-to-4 action, shows command for change-up at 69-71 mph, arm side sink, fastball arm speed, has deception throwing across body, challenges hitters, hides ball well.

Jorden Billings, LHP, Bowling Green, 2017
Billings is a 6-foot-4 200-pound left-handed pitcher from Bowling Green HS in eastern Missouri.  Billings was 76-79 mph with his fastball, he worked the bottom of the zone with mostly fastball and curveball, he has a high three quarters release, works from the 3B side of the rubber, stays in line as he gets down the mound, throws with some deception as he works over a stiff front side, curveball had 2-to-8 shape, late movement, at 64-67 mph, repeats delivery and attacks the zone.

Collin Breckner, LHP, Fair Grove, 2017
Breckner is a 6-foot-2 160-pound left-haned pitcher from Fair Grove HS in Southwest Missouri.  Breckner has a loose arm action with as simple and repeatable delivery, over the head wind up, throws strikes with three pitch mix, high three-quarters release, fastball at 78-82 mph, late running action, works the knees, breaking ball has 2-to-8 shape, 64-67 mph, change up is a plus pitch, late running action, fastball arm speed, 65-70 mph.

Thatcher Burns, LHP, Marquette, 2017
Burns is a 6-foot-3 175-pound left-handed pitcher from Marquette HS in the St. Louis area.  Burns threw mostly fastball and curveball in his outing.  He was 63-68 mph with his fastball and his curveball showed 1-to-7 action at 55-59 mph.  He has an over the top release, smooth rhythm in delivery, work in-line down the mound and has an athletic finish. 

Riley Cain, RHP, South Pemiscot, 2017
Cain is a 5-foot-7 140-pound right-handed pitcher from South Pemiscot HS in southeast Missouri.  He has a three-quarters arm slot, with a simple and repeatable delivery, hands break over the mound, in-line stride as he gets down the mound, 77-80 mph fastball, curveball has slurve-type action with 10-to-4 shape, showed a knuckleball at 67-72 mph, controls for a strike, some sink, threw a high percentage of strikes with both pitches, works both sides of the plate.

Braden Cox, RHP, Scott City, 2017
Cox is a 6-foot-2 205-pound right-handed pitcher from Scott City HS in southeast Missouri.  Cox had one of the top fastball velos on the day at 83 mph, working 77-83 mph, over the top release, repeats delivery, throws strikes, heavy ball, breaking ball is 69-71 mph, 12-to-6 shape, late and sharp break, controls change up at 77 mph, arm side sink.

Mahlyk Davis, LHP, Blue Springs South, 2017
Davis is a 5-foot-10 180-pound left-handed pitcher in from Blue Springs South in the Kansas City area.  He was 74-79 mph with his fastball, late run, lacked a bit of command, hides ball, short arm circle, three quarters arm slot, in line stride down the mound, has some deception to delivery with quick release and hiding ball, breaking ball has sharp 2-to-8 action, 67-68 mph, strong frame.  

Conor Dryer, RHP, Rockwood Summit, 2017
Dryer is a 6-foot-3 174-pound right-handed pitcher from Rockwood Summit in the St. Louis area.  He is committed to Central Missouri.  His fastball was clocked at 84 mph, working 81-84 mph.  He has a loose arm action and lean frame that would suggest more velo to come.  He repeats his delivery with three quarters arm slot, fastball has late running action and breaking ball has 11-to-5 action at 65-69 mph, change up as slight arm side release at 78-79 mph. 

Jake Evans, RHP, Park Hill South, 2017
Evans is a 6-foot-1 200-pound right-handed pitcher from Park Hill South in the Kansas City area.  Evans has an over the top release, attacked hitters with fastballs up to 83 mph, working 78-83 mph, breaking ball has late 11-to-5 action at 69-72, sharp, showed a knuckleball at 72-74 mph, throws for a strike, sinking action, he has smooth rhythm, body stays under control, and throws with regular effort.

Connor Gilles, RHP, Rockwood Summit, 2017
Gilles is a 6-foot 195-pound right-handed pitcher from Rockwood Summit in the St. Louis area. Gilles threw a high percentage of strikes with mostly fastball and change-up, fastball topped at 83 mph, sitting 82-83 mph for most of the outing, breaking ball at 66 mph, 11-to-5 shape, change up with arm side sink, 73-74 mph, throws for a strike, works from a high-three quarters arm slot, loose arm action, body stays under control, repeats release point.

Ryan Miler, LHP, Blue Springs, 2017
Miller is a 5-foot-8 175-pound left-handed pitcher from Blue Springs just outside of Kansas City.  Miller worked a quick inning keeping hitters off balance with mostly fastball and curveball, he worked 76-80 mph with his fastball, working both sides of the plate, high number of strikes, 12-to-6 breaking ball, 64-67 mph, good depth, same plane as fastball, throws for a strike, high three-quarters release, smooth rhythm in delivery, works quick between pitches, challenges hitters.

Carter Mize, LHP, Fort Zumwalt West, 2017
Mize is a 6-foot-2 169-pound left-handed pitcher from Fort Zumwalt West in St. Louis.  He has a loose over the top arm slot, in line stride down the mound, repeats delivery, simple, fastball at 76-81 mph, breaking ball 63-66 mph, 12-to-6 action, threw a high number of strikes with both pitches, throw with regular effort.

Ryan O’Connell, RHP, Lafayette, 2017
O’Connell is a 6-foot 185-pound right-hand pitcher from Lafayette HS in the St. Louis area.  O’Connell threw mostly fastball and slider, fastball at 79-83 mph, some with late run, slider has 10-to-4 action, 71-74 mph, late and sharp action, throws strikes, misses are around zone, three-quarters slot, hides ball well, hard slider and fastball with run from same arm slot, strong frame repeats delivery.

Brandon Odehnal, RHP, Rockwood Summit, 2017
Odehnal is a 6-foot-4 190-pound right-handed pitcher from Rockwood Summit in the St. Louis area. Odehnal was 71-77 mph with fastball, 65-66 mph with breaking ball, 11-to-5 action, high three-quarters release, at times throws slightly across body, delivery has some deception, works inside to LHH, smooth rhythm, throws with regular effort.

Michael Polete, RHP, Mehlville, 2017
Polete is a 6-foot-1 175-pound right-handed pitcher from Mehlville in the St. Louis area.  Polete was efficient with is pitches during his outing, throwing fastball and curveball. He was 76-79 mph with his fastball, 64-69 mph with curveball, breaking ball has 12-to-6 shape, late action, showed command of both pitches, over the top release, high percentage of strikes, repeats mechanics and tempo, throws with regular effort.

Michael Wilson, LHP, Chaminade, 2017
Wilson is a 6-foot-1 175-pound left-handed pitcher from Chaminade in St. Louis.  He has a projectable pitcher’s frame with clean arm action, high three quarters release, throws downhill and attacks the bottom of the zone, slightly across body, threw mostly fastball and curveballs, fastball, 74-79 mph, late arm side run, curveball 63-66 mph, tight 2-to-8 shape, late action.

Jared Zbinden, RHP, Ritenour, 2017
Zbinden is  a 5-foot-11 160-pound right-handed pitcher from Ritenour HS in St. Louis.  Zbinden has a high three quarters release, throws with regular effort, clean arm action, in line stride, fastball was at 71-77 mph, breaking ball was 60-63 mph, 12-to-6 action.
