Prep Baseball Report-Missouri held the MOKAN Mid-Summer Open at Meador Park in Springfield, MO on July 19. 

Players profiles have been updated with profile pitcher, running times, velocities and videos.  We will break down the event position-by-position, taking a look at the pitchers  performances today.  Although, some pitchers may have participated various positions, this is just a look at the pitchers performances.  Players are listed in alphabetical order.

PITCHERS

Brice Bird, RHP, Stockton, 2017
Bird is a 5-foot-7 145-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2017 class. Bird has an over the top arm slot, twist at balance point, in line stride, throws with regular effort, fastball at 67-71 mph, 12-to-6 curveball, 50-53, change up down in the zone at 55-58 mph.

Ben Buchinger, RHP, Liberty, 2018
Buchinger is a 6-foot 200-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2018 class. Buchinger has an over the top release, high leg lift, accelerates down the mound, in-line direction, high number of strikes, fastball at 77-79 mph, breaking ball has 11-to-5 shape, some with sharp action, change up at 69-70, flashed sink.

Hunter Burtrum, RHP, West Plains, 2019
Bartrum is a 5-foot-9 220-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 019 class. Burtrum has a over the top arm slot, slight twist at balance point, in line stride, throws with regular effort, fastball at 68-71 mph, throws for a strike, controllable breaking ball, 12-to-6 shape, 56-60 mph, change up, 61-65 mph, slight arm side release.

Logan Eury, LHP, Logan Rogersville, 2017
Eury is a 5-foot-7 140-pound left-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2017 class. Eury has a high three quarters arm slot, repeats delivery, loose arm action, throws with regular effort, fastball at 72-74 mph, slight late run, 2-to-8 shaped curveball, mostly 62-66 mph, slider at 66-68 mph, 1-to-7 shape, has command of three pitches, works both sides of plate, has feel for the mound, hides ball well. 

Landon Farquhar, RHP, Hollister, 2018
Farquhar is a 5-foot-10 160-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2018 class. Farquhar has an over the top release, slow tempo in wind-up, accelerates towards plate, throws with regular effort, repeats delivery, fastball at 71-74 mph, 12-to-6 breaking ball, 61-62 mph, down in zone, change up at 63-66 mph, some with arm side sink. 

Kamron Grant, LHP, Hillcrest, 2017

Grant is a 5-foot-7 155-pound left-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2017 class. Grant has a controlled delivery with a high three quarters release, creates direction towards the plate, athletic finish, fastball at 70-74 mph, slight run, 1-to-7 shaped breaking ball, 55-60 mph, change up at 55-59 mph, downward action.

Shane Gruener, RHP, Logan-Rogersville, 2017
Gruener is a 5-foot-11 165-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2017 class. Gruener has an over the top release, accelerated tempo on the mound, slight bounce at balance point, in-line landing with front foot, athletic finish, fastball at 77-81 mph, curveball has 11-to-5 shape, some with late/sharp action, slight arm side run on change up, 73-76 mph, near fastball arm speed.

Kyle Johannsen, LHP, Hillcrest, 2017
Johannsen is a 6-foot-2 185-pound left-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2017 class. Johannsen has an over the top release, opens up slightly with stride, body under control during delivery, hands stay high in delivery, fastball at 67-69 mph, breaking ball has 2-to-8 shape, gradual break, throws for a strike, change up at 60-62 mph. 

Joshua Merithew, RHP, Fort Osage, 2017
Merithew is a 5-foot-10 140-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2017 class. Merithew has a high three quarters release point, simple and easy delivery, smooth tempo and rhythm, throws strikes, fastball at 71-74 mph, arm side run, works curveball away from RHH, 12-to-6 shape, 61-62 mph, gradual break, change up at 66-67 mph, some arm side release.

Chris Misemer, RHP, Hollister, 2018
Misemer is a 6-foot 185-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2018 class.  Misemer high three quarters arm slot, slides foot across rubber in wind-up, in line stride, athletic finish, fastball at 69-71 mph, breaking ball 12-to-6 shape, change up at 63-64 mph.

Braedon Newell, RHP, Hollister, 2018
Newell is a 6-foot-2 153-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2018 class. Newell has lean and loose frame, projectable, loose arm action, repeats release point, throws strikes, fastball 71-74 mph, tight 11-to-5 curveball, some flashing late and sharp break, 63-33 mph, good command of change up, mostly 68-72 mph, arm side release. 

Sol Rainey, RHP, Cassville, 2019
Rainey is a 6-foot-4 172-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2019 class. Rainey has a high three quarters release, downhill plane, accelerates down the mound, creates direction towards the plate, fastball at 74-76 mph, 12-to-6 breaking ball, 59-64 mph, change up 66-67, slight arm side sink. 

Garrett Rice, RHP, Willard, 2020
Rice is a 6-foot-1 235-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2020 class. Rice has an over the top release, throws with some effort, commands three pitches, repeats delivery and release point, fastball at 78-80 mph, 11-to-5 shape curveball, 65-69 mph, change up at 70-72 mph, near fastball arm speed, works the bottom of the zone. 

Cory Roshau Jr., RHP, St. James Academy (KS), 2018
Roshau is a 6-foot-2 185-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2018 class. Roshau has an high three quarters, controlled delivery with smooth rhythm, drop and drive, in line stride, athletic finish, fastball at 76-79 mph, some with late run, 12-to-6 breaking ball, 63-67 mph, change up at 72-74 mph.

Sam Shaffer, RHP, Liberty, 2018
Shaffer is a 6-foot 160-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2018 class. Shaffer is a submarine-style pitcher, stays in line with stride, smooth rhythm and tempo, works both sides of the plate with fastball, fastball at 69-71, some with rising action, slider at 58-63 mph, gradual break, change up at 63-64 mph. 

Memphys Starks, RHP, Ozark, 2020
Starks is a 5-foot-10 209-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2020 class. Starks has a high three quarters release, drop and drive type delivery, loose arm action, aggressive down the mound, body stays under control, strong build, fastball at 75-80 mph, sharp 11-to-5 curveball, down in zone, mostly 64-68 mph, controllable change up at 65-67, straight. 

Logan Thomazin, RHP, Walnut Grove, 2018
Thomazin is a 6-foot-2 190-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2018 class. Thomazin has a high three quarters delivery, thows with some effort, loose arm action, repeats release, throws strikes, fastball at 82-83 mph, some with late running action, 11-to-5 breaking ball, plus pitch, sharp and late break, lands for a strike, 71-73 mph, change up as arm side run, 73-75 mph, throws for a strike.

Jake Wheeler, RHP, Stockton, 2018
Wheeler is a 5-foot-11 140-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2018 class. Wheeler has a high three quarters arm slot, lean and projectable frame with loose arm action, simple and repeatable mechanics, repeats, fastball at 76-78 mph, curveball shows signs of being a good pitch with tight spin, 11-to-5 shape, some having sharp movement, change up at 66-70 mph.
