Unsigned Senior Q&A with Dylan Riley (Holden HS)

Dylan Riley from Holden HS is looking to piggy back on his successful 2012 season to be a team leader in 2012. Ranked No. 58 in the Class of 2012, Dylan Riley has been on the recruiting trail the past few months and looks to be one of the next few Class of 2013 player to make his college committment.
Riley posted some impressive numbers, both at the plate and on the mound last year, hitting .426 with twenty-one runs scored and striking out only eight times in eighty-two at-bats. Riley dominated on the mound, posting a 6-3 record with sixty-two strikeouts and a 0.60 ERA; allowing only five earned runs all season long.
PBR: What do you expect going into your senior season?
Riley: Going into my senior season I plan to continue improving in all parts of the game, while helping lead our team to a great season.
PBR: What is your biggest strength as a player?
Riley: I feel my biggest strength as a player would have to be my game experiences. I believe the level that I have played in summer and fall ball has prepared me for whatever happens in high school season.
PBR: What aspect of your game do you believe needs the most improvement?
Riley: The part of my game that I am hoping for the most improvement will be my overall physical strength and the ability to strengthen and use my lower body for improved performance in all aspects of the game.
PBR: What are your expectations and experiences in the recruiting process?
Riley: Hope to find school that my skills fit with what they need. Coaches that push me to improve my game and be successful in the academic part of college.
PBR: What type of program would you like to play at? What is most important to you: Caliber of program, coaching staff, academics, etc…?
Riley: Want to play in a competitive, winning atmosphere. Coaching staff that can help me improve in areas I need to and academically I am not sure on major, but hope to be exposed to some interesting choices.
PBR: What schools are you most interested in right now, and why?
Riley: Planning on taking advantage of the A + program and go to a junior college to give me 2 years to improve my game to see where that leads me.
PBR: What were your personal goals for the 2012 season and were they met? Goals for the 2013 season?
Riley: To get better at all parts of game, help team have an even better year.
PBR: What team do you play for in the summer?
Riley: Missouri Select and Warrensburg Legion
PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher/hitter that you have faced?
Riley: Pitcher would have to be Taylor Ross from Clinton who is at Missouri State now and Hitter would be Johnny Eiermen from Warsaw and the Tampa Bay Rays.
PBR: What is your fondest memory or highlight from your 2012 baseball season (High School or Summer)?
Riley: Being named 2nd team all state.
PBR: What is your most memorable moment in baseball so far in your life?
Riley: Making All-State team and . Going 8-0 and winning the World series in Omaha and being named the MVP of that tournament.
PBR: You have attended a PBR Showcase, what are your thoughts on how it will be beneficial to you as you keep moving forward in the recruiting process?
Riley: The PBR Showcase was a great way to get some idea of where my evaluation numbers compared with players from around the state. It gave me idea of parts of game I needed to work on and got some video for reference info. Great experience.
