2023 PBR Future Games MVP: Danny Wallace

Danny Wallace is a throwback athlete with a vintage skill set as a baseball star-in-the-making who can do everything on the diamond, coupled with a willingness to do anything in the name of competition.

His performance at last week’s PBR Future Games garnered attention and praise from all angles, and he has been named the event’s Most Valuable Player in the process, joining a lengthy list of winners from Team Midwest, including our staff's 2021 selection, the Vanderbilt-bound Camden Kozeal, who is also a fellow Nebraska native. Wallace was more than a unanimous choice for the award, even onlooking college coaches suggested it’d be preposterous if he wasn’t named its recipient.

Wallace is preparing for his junior year at Papillion La Vista South High School, just outside of Omaha, Neb., where he’s occupied center field the past two prep springs for the varsity Titans. All the while, Wallace had started to spark Division I interest as an athlete, though primarily from the programs closest to his Omaha home. Though just as the interest in PBR Nebraska’s No. 1-ranked player started to ignite in earnest, in April, the NCAA announced a substantial change to its recruiting rules which prohibits any form of communication between coaches and potential recruits prior to Aug. 1 of the player’s incoming junior academic year.
